[first broadcast]
[She doesn't remember anything beyond a split-second vision of a large, vicious green-eyed spirit jumping them in the mountains. But she can guess at what happened, based off of the fact that she's woken up in an entirely different place, and the fact that her lantern seems to be a little more beat up than it was before.]
I'm....awake.
[A strange sensation claws inside her chest occasionally, but she decides that isn't important right now.]
Did we find anything? Did everyone else make it back?
[separate broadcast, much later on the same day]
[After she's heard from her friends and adjusted to being...back again, she lays in bed feeling strangely alive for someone who just got skewered by a green-eyes. It's always night in Beacon, which means it's never really bedtime, so it's okay to want to talk, right?]
How did you die? Back home.
If you don't mind talking about it, I mean. But it happened to all of us, didn't it?
[ooc note: Hope's backstory includes content warnings for suicide. Please let me know if you'd prefer not to thread about this and I'll make sure she doesn't mention it!]

Just got back from a trip out to the power station. Guess it's obvious now why the spirits wanted us to go.
First off, we found some of the batteries that go in the buildings downtown. Not sure we've got all of them, some of those places are still pretty boarded up, but we grabbed everything we saw. Twelve total. Couldn't have carried them out without Stone's help, so give him your thanks.
Law and I found the control room of the place, too. We didn't get a lot of opportunity to look around, but we found the journal of someone who was stationed there at the end, as things started going dark. I guess he was one of the last ones alive to oversee the bombs they shot at that World Eater, and he thought it worked. If that's true, then either there was more than one at the time and they didn't know it, or ours showed up later.
But it says he knew they were firing the bombs from a silo up in the mountains somewhere. I'm willing to go hike out there and have a look if a few people want to join, but we'll need supplies. It sounds like it might be pretty far.
Maybe the plutonium comes first, though. And maybe Weaver's little flying robots are enough anyway without risking a trip to the mountains. We saw another green-eye near the power station, and that seven-eyed one is still out there somewhere. I'm open to ideas.

O-kay! Imagine me dusting my hands off in accomplishment just there. I have some things to share with you all!
First, thanks to everyone who came down and helped clean up the Helix Station and get things running down there again. Home sweet home. I've run a few tests just to make sure, but it seems like our portal is safe and functional again. Credit where it's due, your Dr. Ingram does actually sometimes know what he's doing. So! If you guys need special tools or materials from home, or just want something to make your stay a little easier, we can get right back to doing those special orders! Just run it by me first, since there are still some limitations - can't be too big, for one, and I do kind of feel a little responsible for the stuff that comes through there so don't be too offended if I say no to your request for napalm unless you have a really important use for it.
This thing sucks up a lot of power when we pull in specific items, so let's start by just asking for one thing per person and I'll see how that goes. Got it?
Second, more good news! I've been trying out a few things based on Alastair's research. Repayment for the cleaning and all that, as promised. I tried doing the opposite direction this time - sent a note to a world, then was able to pull it back through, so that works. Does it work with living people, though? No idea. Let's not try until we get rid of the World Eater that's bearing down on us all, because I don't really like the idea of having you all turn yourselves to ambiguous goo by mistake and spending the rest of my days hiding under the lake by myself.
Lastly, I know some of you saved some samples of the other World Eater, right? Has anyone had a chance to look at it? Because it might be helpful to compare it with what we learned about the green-eyes we had here. I'd like to see if my ideas are right. It could be really helpful in making a more effective weapon. I want to help, and I've got the tools to build another bomb, but I want to do it right in case this is our one and only shot, so let me know if you've found anything out. Or if you have more plutonium, for that matter.
All right? All good? If we can beat this thing, this world might finally get to catch a break. I'd like to see life here. Real life, not like us. I think we've got a chance.

Good...day, my fellow citizens. If it is day, who knows anymore?
According to the Librarian's report, we are running out of time, but there are several things happening on multiple fronts which give me hope that it is not entirely impossible to handle this World Eater which is on its way. Allow me to report what I know, and then we may discuss what we can do to hasten our various tasks and come together in order to succeed.
First, Weaver would like our collective assistance cleaning the Helix Station so that she may return to live in it. It is...a daunting task, if one is not yet accustomed to the level of violence and gore that seems to be commonplace here. A number of people died there, and while their remains are not an issue, there is still a fair amount of evidence of the violence that must be safely cleaned up. If anyone would like to put together a group to do so, I would appreciate it and so would Weaver - so much so that she has agreed to find us the information we would need to learn how to reverse the portal and potentially send the World Eater through it. Time is extremely of the essence, there. But, seeing as it is winter, or very nearly so, some may appreciate time in a warm, indoor station that is as safe as any, even if the bargain means washing and cleaning.
What we learned while down there was considerable, and Doctor Trafalgar has a sample of World Eater [ahem] viscera on which to experiment. We know that there may be one limited means of fighting the green-eyed spirits, using a potion, but work will need to be done to verify and then manufacture it. Pluto and her people were working on ways to fight back against them as well as the World Eaters, and while most of that was a bit over my own head, I expect the doctors - medical and technological both - have all of that information and can share it with any who can help them work on other routes of defense and attack. There is also more information out there to be retrieved, it seems.
We also learned more about the bomb that was used, and I would like to remind my fellow living dead that I have the location of a bunker containing an important mineral component of it. I should like to undertake an expedition to retrieve it once the proper containment protocols can be arranged. I defer to Doctor Ingram on that front, but I will be going along to guide and to fight if needed.
Now, with all of that said... [deep breath. Yeah, he talks a lot and this time is no different]
...the Librarian's message also suggested that some of the green-eyes are amenable to talking with us, perhaps we can arrange a truce or at least a mutual cease-fire. It seems there is a massive and dangerous 'boss' spirit, the Seven-Eyes, which will not listen to reason, and I will echo the plea: do take care, and do not go out alone. Not even to search for lanterns. There are a dwindling number of us left, and if too many take foolhardy risks, we may not be able to repair their lanterns. Any and all efforts of ours to stop the World Eaters and look ahead to a peaceful afterlife will end permanently if we lose the ones capable of repairing lanterns and working the portal. Of course, I do not plan to strike diplomacy with this creature, but if the Librarian is correct, there are others, and I want to speak with them. Sooner rather than later.
Winter is coming, and there is no knowing how harsh it may be. Our efforts to explore and travel may be severely hindered. I suggest we plan to move as quickly as we can to secure all of our advantages. I would propose one more thing...the Bonfire. It does serve as our light and heat but it is also what draws the World Eater here. I would like to hear any suggestions of how to best spread out the torches, move them so that they do not act as a beacon of their own. We need the light, but we also need to protect ourselves.
Thank you for listening. Please, tell me what you think.

To my fellow Beacon residents,
I hope that everyone has returned safely from the mines, and that the nightmares that spread across town have stopped.
While I have been here for a few months now, I am afraid that I am still under-equipped to survive here. I do not have much experience fighting, or with weapons. But I would like to correct that. I do not have many skills that I could trade lessons for, but if you would be willing to teach me, please let me know. I live on the third floor of the Invincible, or you can contact me here.
I would also like to ask if anyone knows some very simple recipes. This is my first time having access to any kind of kitchen.
Thank you,
39 Hope
[Does this sound weird? She's used to writing schoolwork, and hasn't really used an online network before. She knows that people don't sign their name after everything they post. But she wants to sound polite. And surely it makes sense to sign your name once, right...?]

[he opens with a deep sigh, tired and slightly pained]
My fellow citizens of Beacon...
The recent visits by spirits appear to have been fruitful, in the sense that some of us have learned new things about this world and the past. If you have something valuable to share, I encourage you to speak up. I am less concerned about network security these days so we need not purposefully meet in person. I should like to know what you all know, and in turn, I have some disturbing news of my own.
The spirit who met me...I believe, strongly, was actually one of my own people, from my world. A foe, in the past, whose death impacted me personally. I have no evidence aside from the sensations of his thoughts, which in the dream state is hard to be sure is real, but my experience is difficult to interpret any other way. This means that the spirits are not just the former residents of Beacon from before the darkness, they are also...us. Our own. Others like us who were brought here upon death and forced to try to rectify the situation before it's too late. It is very likely that in time, we too will become masked spirits.
Hence, 'what is death to a dead thing?' Their deaths brought them here, and the world turned them into what we see.
[a long pause. Not because the rest is difficult but because that's such a heavy thought and he's not managing it well]
Additionally, through his memory of still being human, I have discovered the location of some sort of bunker, a storage space hidden behind a thick metal door. The 'plutonium' that the Night Market wanted so badly is apparently kept there. If the Wild Hunt is no longer a threat, it may be safe to mount an expedition to recover it, I have the location written down as I remember it being given to my mind. However, I think the more urgent and prudent expedition should be to Helix Station, if Weaver would be so kind as to transport us. I will have plans made to leave within two days of now. Do let me know if you wish to join me, I have already spoken to some but would like to settle it.
Please, share with me what you have all learned.

( His voice is rough and just a little weary. )
Was I robbed of power through my own fault, my death, or did this place take it from me ... ?
( The words of a man dependent on his monstrous strength, but the tone of a man exposed.
He moves on: )
I need something to wrap my face with. My name is Katakuri Charlotte, and I'm staying at the Invincible if anyone can provide assistance.

Soldat, Law and myself just got back from trying to find some sign of the Wild Hunt. Ran into a few roadblocks and thought we'd come back, go over what we found, see if anyone here has ideas.
We did find a building full of spirits. A train station I guess, with a train in it but it doesn't look like it's going anywhere any time soon. The rails kept going into a tunnel but it was closed off with locks we couldn't get through or even break, and another branch had some little hand cart that needs wheels to get going. If anyone knows a thing or two about locks, or has ideas for that cart, we're all ears. Might go dig through the scrap yard later.
We also found a notebook. We're all in it. Looks like it dates back decades at least, with detailed notes on everyone who's ever been in Beacon. I've got it at Solis' lab for now so we can compare it to her lantern notes but if anyone wants a look through, feel free. It was inside the train for some reason and it's been written in by lots of different people but I don't know anything else about where it came from or why it exists.
I'd like to go back out eventually. I feel like if those people were still around we'd have heard from them by now but I hate the idea of abandoning them to whatever fate found them before we did. We could use a few more eyes on the ground.
Then again maybe we have bigger priorities. Anyone been back down to the Helix Station with Weaver yet?

I am Merwen, for those whom I have not yet shared meeting. I am hoping to share knowledge.
I received a message from an unliving doll. I thought it was meant to be a prediction, but it seems to be more a description of a place.
I am still recently arrived, and I do not know Beacon well enough to think where this place might be, or if this is a place I should seek out.

If you've got things you want to get rid of or you want to look for treasure among what others have left behind, there's a place where you can refuel in between two places where both actions can be done.

[Multiple test posts happened before this one, only to be deleted shortly after. Now he has the hang of this.]
Good afternoon.
This technology is new to me, though I have perused the remainder of the network to assume the correct format and protocol. I apologize for any mistakes or violations of etiquette I've made in the course of this message.
[Good grief.]
I'm a recent arrival. My name is Danse. I have taken up residence in what appears to be an abandoned fueling station and garage, located near the village.
I have what some might call a knack for machines. My time thus far has been spent tinkering with what's available at the garage, but I have also mounted several small expeditions around the area in search of scrap. I am interested in acquiring any "junk" you may have, to provide me with parts and components. I would also like to learn more about the technology present here, and I would like to study any pieces you may have. In exchange for the opportunity, I will do my best to repair or restore it for you.
I am also a capable soldier, if you are in need of a reliable backup for an expedition.
In any case, I wish to prove an asset to the community, and hope that my utility outweighs any inconvenience or discomfort my presence will cause. Please contact me if you have any need of my services, or any junk you kindly wish to donate.
Thank you for your time.

This is Soldat.
It seems like there is only me and the Ambassador left who speak the spirit language well. We should not be the only translators in case something happens to us. And also we can't go with everyone on every expedition.
On Sundays and Tuesdays at 1900 I will teach people more of the language at the church. I sing it but I have worked out how to make the notes on the instruments in the general store and also you can whistle it. I'll have instruments for anyone who needs them. The first one will be in two days.
Please let me know if you would like to attend so I know how many to expect.
[And so they know how many people to be prepared to be stared at by.]

Hello! Please disregard my username — connecting my device to your system retained my old username, and I cannot change it.
I'm not sure if anyone mentioned me to the town at large, but chances are pretty good you've seen the submarine if you've been by the harbor, so I might as well introduce myself. My name is Weaver, and I am a ... member of the Night Market. The only member, I guess. I know all of you are too new to have met me during a visit, I haven't been to the surface in years, but I'm glad to have a chance to meet you now. If you'd like to meet me in person, I will be staying docked in the harbor for the time being.
Mostly, I just want to say thank you for the help. What happened at the station was... terrible, but, without you all I would have been gone too.
I'm told that Dr. Solis is no longer present and that your portal is currently not functioning properly. As a sign of my gratitude, I would be happy to look into helping repair it, if you all would let me. It would make me feel better to do something in return for all you have done for me.
If you need help with other technological repair, I might be able to help. However, I will request your assistance with restoration of the Helix Station in return. If you are uninterested or unwilling to help me, then perhaps you can retrieve things for me that I need relating to that interest. If you don't want to do even that, well... well, I guess I can't help you.
Other than that... if you have questions, I can try to answer. I am grateful for you all, and hope we can work together to keep moving forward.

For anyone interested, I am in the Invincible bar with a gift from the spirits.
Earlier this month, before our descent to the Helix station, I was given a bottle of wine. But it turns out that this bottle is never empty. I can drink the entire thing and it is still full. It is pretty good wine, as far as I can tell, but the point is, I can serve everyone and still have more. At a time like this, I think we need it.
Do visit the Invincible. I will play host for most of today. If you wish for tales of what we accomplished under the water, it will take a few bottles of this wine before I will explain.
[no need to respond to his call, just stop by and have a drink or...a lot of drinks. He will chat with anyone on the network who wants to, though.]

username: elvira
so when are we going to entertain the idea that the idiots that went under aren't coming back?
it's been days, and no word as far as i've heard. can't say that sounds like a good sign.

[While the cats are away, the mice will play. Or, in this case, a previously unknown username appears on the network at an odd time.]
So, which one of you tore down my lighthouse?
[It's to the point, at least. A companion log to this network post is located here!]
