Heyyyyyy everybody... I hope you're all doing okay. :( Rastus has been keeping me up to date. Did everyone make it back alive? Do you guys need anything?? I'll grab some extra medical supplies for the next ferry.

Oh! Speaking of medical stuff, word on the street is that the green-eyed spirits have cleared out from the hospital and stuff. Whatever sorta rescue mission you guys pulled, it sounds like it was effective. I'd maaaaybe take it easy for a few days since we have OTHER STUFF to worry about right now, but once that mirror lady and her goons clear out, you guys should go check out that med center!!! There's a bunch of useful stuff over there.

ANYWAY, I hear the Wild Hunt is in town. :/ I don't LIKE that they're in town, but Rastus is Mr. Diplomat over here and HE thinks the polite thing to do is to let Kimiko hang out for a couple days since she was kinda helpful or w/e. Ugh. I guess he has a point since like, they DID help get all you guys outta trouble... And Rastus says Kimiko's all offering to have her cave gremlins teach you survival skills and crap, and they'll help clean up and help anyone who's hurt, so like, OK FINE.

But this is just temporary!!! I said the Wild Hunt is only allowed to stay in town until Thursday, and by Friday they'd better have scurried back to their dumb mines. >:(

Just don't let them make you drink the koolaid, OK? I don't know much about them because they've been in hiding for yeeeeears and it's not like they keep in touch!! All I know is the spirits call them the Fire Snatchers and they apparently really want to destroy the bonfire and stuff. They're all, oh let's just let ourselves get munched by World Eaters!! Sounds super duper fun!!!!! /rolls eyes

If you got questions about them, maybe just ask Kimiko? And then, like, LMK... 👀 I gotta compile notes on these guys now because that's my job. They don't have network access, so we can talk smack all we want and they'll never see. :P

I hope you're all doing OK ❤❤❤ bye!!

Hey guys! It's Daylight again and I have a new update for the spirit language project! I was hoping to release one last month but things were... you know...

...

....

..... hectic.

[ yeah. let's go with that. ]

So! Right! For those who are new: The project I'm talking about is all about attempting to understand the language of the spirits more and making it more accessible for others. In January, I figured out some new phrases and words we could use with them. This month, I think we've made some real progress again!

[ day goes on to explain what the progress exactly is and, to his credit, it does seem to be a lot of advancement. in the past month, the following was tackled:

with the significant help of elle and duster, the following instruments have been transcribed to play the spirits' melodies: the piano. the double bass. the bongos. the kazoo.

(day makes a note to mention that he listed them in order of progress, so they should keep that in mind.)

there was also major progress in cracking the spirits' language itself! one of the things day discovered is that the spirits' treat the use of musical instruments more like 'accents' than anything else. wind musical instruments are easier for the spirits to understand than, say, percussion instruments.

the further one deviates from the original instrument (the ocarina), the heavier the 'accent' the speaker is using when speaking with spirits. it makes it harder for the spirits to understand but long as you finish what you're saying and give them time to answer, they should reply back.

when he finishes explaining the major discoveries and progress: ]
This will be all added to the spirit language app that we have on the tablet. The app also has the packet of phrases and words I found so you're free to practice those too. Ocarinas can be found in the general store, free of cost, and feel free to reach out towards Elle and Duster if you want to take a crack of the instruments they transcribed!

Um- What else...? Oh! Like before, if you guys have any questions about how to play the music or the instruments, let me or the others know! We'll do what we can to help each other out while we're here! Thanks for listening!

[ and, with that, daylight ends the audio- but not fast enough, because he fumbles a bit with the tablet. it'll allow some people, if they have sharp hearing, to hear the following as day mutters under his breath: ]

Next mission: Figuring out how music boxes work. What the heck am I supposed to do with-

[The voice in the audio clip is quiet, weary, and a little bit nervous. She gets right to the point, though—small talk isn't really Dr. Solis' thing.]

Hello, everyone. My name is Dr. Maridel Solis. I... apologize, as I am never sure how to best introduce myself. I am the last surviving native of this world, and I am the scientist responsible for the portal. I created the lighthouse, the lanterns, and I repair the lanterns of the dead. I think it's about time we began working together.

I'm sure you all have many questions for me. I will do my best to answer as best I can, but first, allow me to explain a few things.

I imagine some among you will be cross with me for lurking behind the scenes for so long. During the first few resets, I made my presence known right from the start. Problems arose rather immediately—it's quite a shock, as I'm sure you all will understand, to find yourself in a place such as this. Too much, too soon... This is an impossible situation we've found ourselves in, and the full scope of it is too likely to turn fear into panic. I do my best not to shout fire! in a crowded theater these days, for everyone's safety.

In any case, please know that I am truly sorry that you have found yourselves in this place, and I'm grateful for your help.

The second reason for my seclusion is that, frankly, I've been quite busy. Busy with research, with lantern crafting and repair... It's easier for me to continue my work while separated from the rest of the town until I am ready to present my findings to the townspeople for help.

During the attack on the town this past November, Robin was given a lantern by the green-eyed spirits. The thing was in pieces, barely recognizable as a lantern, and as such, it's taken me until recently to identify its owner, but—this lantern belonged to a lighthouse keeper from many years ago. One of the best we've had, in fact. What's more is, I believe I may be able to revive him.

The revival will take time, as I still have many preparations to make before we can begin the process. In the meantime, I would very much like to hear from anyone with a background in the sciences, magical or otherwise. Your skills and knowledge sets may be of use, as I will have need for materials I believe can be found in Beacon, although I'm at an impasse as to what, precisely, those materials might be. For now, I would simply like to get a scope of what other capable minds we have among us so that I may best understand how to utilize our strengths.

Regarding the incident on the ferry: frightening as though the forest spirit prank was, I assure you, it's nothing to be alarmed by. The portal is unstable, and occasionally its schedule fluctuates. I believe that is all that happened in this case; the forest spirit, ahem, corpses are... unrelated. Pranksters getting carried away with themselves.

When the next batch of new arrivals will show, I can't be certain. We'll simply have to wait and see what the next ferry brings, though I doubt the portal will keep us waiting for too long. It never does.

As I've said, I imagine you have questions for me, and I am happy to answer as best I can. I will... set up an inbox for myself, I suppose. I'll be sure to make that information available on the network directory.

Stay safe.

[The audio feed clicks off. Attached to the message is a written transcript of the whole broadcast.

ooc: More information about the lantern revival plot will be available in the future! Right now, she's just collecting data... Dr. Solis will need assistance from many different skillsets, so there's room for everyone to get involved at some stage! No worries if your character isn't a huge nerd.

Also, the game history page has been updated!]

[This is the only way she knows how to reach out to the residents of Beacon she doesn't know. Xayah seriously wishes Rastus was more specific with his request.]

Rastus asked me to make trinkets, bracelets, and necklaces for people that are sad. There are too many people around though and I don't know everyone.

So, if you have a friend that could use one (or want one for yourself), drop by the Greenhouse. I can also show you the elements I work with so I can make you something of your own choice in the end.

Drop by in the evening hours; I have some stuff to do right now.

Hi, is this thing on?

[Shuffling.]

I hope so.

Anyway, I went by the courthouse to try and chat with the spirits inside and I told that one person I'd report back after so this is me doing that.

I didn't really learn much, though.

They're annoyed and hungry. Really hungry.

We're gonna have to take them out or feed them, I think.

...Wish I could tell you more.

[Alone in his cabin, Quentin had plucked the gift from the door handle and carelessly opened it before reading the note. The chocolate hearts make his stomach clench, the scent of burned sugar is all in his head, but that doesn't make candy easier to stomach. He puts the hearts carefully on the table and reads the note-- and flips open the tablet.

There was only one name on that card, but Quentin is the only one living at the cabin since Eliot died and Riku found himself a secret cave somewhere. So--]

So uh...m'working on a project, and I guess I'm not asking permission, but I kinda need everyone's help.

Or everyone that's willing to help! Please help.

Buuut...I need pictures. Of everyone. Or...I don't need them, I just want them. And Rastus, being the awesome bird-man he is, got his...uh...whatever on an instant camera and film, so I can actually print the photos.

[Accompanying this post is a picture of said camera, taken with his tablet. There's a second picture as well, of a pile of what looks like scrap metal illuminated by a torch with his lantern carefully balanced on top.]

I'm building a booth for a more controlled...picture environment? And there's more room out here, even though it's colder. Pros and cons, they exist.

ANYWAY. Photos! I'll pay you if you model...somehow? Maybe you can keep any pictures I take of you? Let me know if you're interested!

Bad news everyone
The Fallout Shelter is taken
I mean the nightclub not an actual shelter from nuclear fallout
It's a wild party not the kind of place I'd perform
Some nightclubs don't allow kids because they serve alcohol but this one really shouldn't allow kids

The spirits look happy so I wouldn't try to bother them

Please be careful because you don't know what they're eating
It smells terrible in there.

[How does he safely break the news that they have drugs without making it sound cool?]

Hey. Hope you're all staying safe. It's icy out there.

The Postmaster gave me a package. Couldn't tell you who sent it but I think there's been a mistake. This was inside.

[ There's a picture attached of a yarn snowman wearing a knit black cap and black and white knitted scarf with green buttons for eyes. It's pretty cute... ]

Does this belong to anyone?

One more thing.

The movie theater downtown has a stage and multiple film projectors. Big library of films too. The spirits working the concession counter seem okay too.

Only problem is it needs power. Take a look at this.

[ The attached picture shows five slots that look like they could fit a big square car battery or something like it. ]

Not exactly urgent. Still, a movie sometimes might not be too bad.

[It's late on the seventh when Masaomi wakes up on a church pew. At first, he can't bring himself to do anything other than stare at his hands. Slowly he raises them above his head, takes in the palms, flips them over, hesitantly touches the backs, slides his fingers down his own arms.

He's whole.

Suddenly, he digs his nails in. It hurts, and he pulls back, leaving harsh red marks. Masaomi sits up then, still staring like he can't believe his own senses.

He's not crying. You're crying.]

[It's not until the eighth that he sends out another text. No ominous snapshots this time.]

Didn't cut it as a carny.

[She's back from her explore on the 6th. How do you do these network things? Is it similar to usual texting? ...]

There's a greenhouse west of the village and across the river. It needs a bridge for landwalkers.

@ hello
Aziraphale? I brought cucumber seeds if you're interested.

@ dr
Will, I looked for it but didn't find anything. There are some chemicals there though.

[The post has several pictures attached to it: some kind of obscure, bean gardening tool; cans of a chemical called 'Miracle-Gro'; a scribble in drawing program of how she got there.]

[The first thing Masaomi shares is a picture. It's dark as always, but for once, that doesn't affect visibility. Half of the picture is filled with Masaomi's anxiously grinning face. He's pointing over his shoulder where a parade of bright colors and surreal costumes is marching past the school.]

Nobody told me Beacon had a circus! This shit's insane!

[Aaaand that's it. That's all anyone gets.

Masaomi will not respond to this post. He is officially a dead boy.

Hello there, everyone, this is Aziraphale. With the advent of the Songbird on our devices, I was hoping to ask you all a favor. Or, well, it's more like a proposal, really. If people with musical talents could volunteer their time, we could record some songs with our devices and publish them for public listening on the why-fye.

I was also wondering if anyone here was familiar with the work of someone called Freddie Mercury, or perhaps one of the Velvet Undergrounds? They are performers from Earth, somewhere in the latter half of the 20th century or early 21st century. I would like to make a personal request that we could make some of their music available post-haste!

I admit that I have very little to offer in this project, myself. However, if anyone is interested in book passage recitations, I would be delighted to take requests, provided I'm familiar with the material!

[ Additional note: Aziraphale has intended to filter this message to everyone except for Crowley to be able to see it, but he has messed up and just made it open. ]
