To my fellow Beacon residents,

I hope that everyone has returned safely from the mines, and that the nightmares that spread across town have stopped.

While I have been here for a few months now, I am afraid that I am still under-equipped to survive here. I do not have much experience fighting, or with weapons. But I would like to correct that. I do not have many skills that I could trade lessons for, but if you would be willing to teach me, please let me know. I live on the third floor of the Invincible, or you can contact me here.

I would also like to ask if anyone knows some very simple recipes. This is my first time having access to any kind of kitchen.

[Does this sound weird? She's used to writing schoolwork, and hasn't really used an online network before. She knows that people don't sign their name after everything they post. But she wants to sound polite. And surely it makes sense to sign your name once, right...?]

Miss Hope we have a class three times a week to teach people how to defend themselves. I can teach you how to break holds and maybe use a knife. I can show you where we meet on Monday if you want. There is no need to trade anything. We just want you to be safe.

Thank you. That would be wonderful to know how to do. [Thinking of all the times she got caught out by the Prizrak. They seem less frightening now, somehow. They were just men, not monsters like the green-eyes.

She also thinks about Derringer, and watching him tumble over the edge of Terminus after she...]

What about guns? We had a few from Helix, didn't we?

I am not sure where those went, I think individuals may have claimed them. Ammunition may be a problem unless we collect more from Helix or request it through the portal.

I will be going back to Helix to complete an agreement with Weaver so if you are familiar with guns I can try to trade one for you.

Still a few missing after the rest of us got out of the mines unfortunately. Might be worth going back to look for lanterns at this point if they haven't made it back on their own.

There was something in there. Like one of the green-eyes but huge. Smarter, stronger, planning something.

Everyone needs to be cautious and learning how to fight is a good start. Try not to go off alone, too. Make sure people know where you are.

Don't go looking by yourself. Probably obvious but I'll say it anyway.

Some of the green-eyes have tried to help, sort of. Some just want violence. So sure, maybe some want to help those things too. Maybe it's all about the means to whatever their favorite end is. It was trying to make more green-eyes I think and maybe that's all it wanted. More of it. Fewer of us.
