Hi! I’m Daylight. Um… I know a lot’s been happening and we’re all trying to figure out what we can do to help. It’s actually why I’m making this post now, honestly.
A few months back we had this scavenger hunt event. It was run by Ms. Robin- [ he falters here, the memory of her latest post still fresh in his processors.
he shakes his helm, grateful that no one can see him, and continues on: ] -and I got something for participating in it. It was a phrase from the forest spirits' language. The one where we use with the ocarinas and language app she also set up for us in our tablets.
A friend of mine- Riku, he's really nice - he said he also got one. So did someone else after the event. So I’m thinking she must have given to everyone who participated in it and I'm hoping you guys, if you have it, can pass them along to me. I want to try and use the phrases we have to figure out more about their language. Make more phrases, find new words. Stuff like that. I want to talk to them. See if they can direct me to the green-eyed spirits.
[ you wanna what now day- ]
So if you guys got anything similar to this, you can let me know here or in my inbox or in person or whatever works best for you. I, um, will try to pay you guys if you want something in return.
Umm… Yeah… That's it, I guess. Thank you.

@ Soldier, Text
[Look they don't even make it private, for once. It's important that people know not to go looking for the green-eyes.]
Also I know their word for us
@daylit, voice.
-I just want to help them. If they need help then I'll try to help them. [ daylight seems stubbornly set on this path of his. worryingly so with how earnest he sounds.
perhaps its the best he gets sidetracked by what soldat had to say next. he audibly perks up when he learns soldat has a translation himself. a really important one to! ]
You know the word they use for us us? Really? That’s a really good thing to have when trying to decipher a language.
Text still
I can't play it. But if I come sing it for you maybe you can work out the notes on the ocharina. Where are you
[Maybe in person they can convince Daylight not to get himself killed. Certainly not so soon, before they have more information.]
( first, a gag tag. )
also titled: why is melly, a menace, allowed access to photoshop?? ]
( okay for real- text now because daylight reasons. )
very strange. but maybe understandable? because there's no way he can hide the wince in his voice when he gives his answer: ] I'm at the church. Just the edge of the forestline.
I'm not going to go in yet, I swear. Just trying to listen for some things in there.
[ much as he wants to elaborate, he remembers the warnings the others gave- ]
More about that later, when we meet up.

[ They're responsible for all of the scars she's got right now, Daylight. WHY. ]
wouldn't the other ones be a better option?
@daylit, voice.
(a challenge for him, he knows.) ] —It’s just because the green-eyed spirits were behind this.
Did you notice how some of the other spirits — [ the ones not involved, he doesn't say but might as well have. ] — also ate the drugged food? They had no clue what was going on.
They were behind this and they said they want our help. I want to learn how exactly from them, if possible. [ if not— well, like elle said: the other spirits can be spoken too. ]
voice;
Someone else on the network implied that they were trying to kill us to tell us... whatever it is they were trying to communicate. [ It's a bold strategy, Cotton. ] But you're not going to talk to them alone, right?
no subject
[ praise the stars and then some- daylight does have some common sense rattling around the processors. ]
I was thinking of bringing someone with me when I go in and having someone else stay behind. I give the person who's still in Beacon an update message. Maybe every hour or so. That way they know we're still, you know, kicking and they have the information that we discover too. That way the others can be updated in real-time.

But I'm glad you're trying to work on understanding their language. It's the right priority after what we've been through. I don't have anything to add that isn't already in the ocarina instructions on the network but I'm interested in whatever you end up finding out.
no subject
[ daylight's attempt at humour to liven the mood is quickly swept away by himself seconds later, the sound he makes thoughtful and... worried. ] Yeah. I've been meaning to tackle this when I realised what the ocarinas were for but... the other things happened and—
Better late than never, huh? I hope I can get enough information to figure out enough tones and 'words' to create new phrases. The way grandma used to talk about it, the process is pretty complicated.
@Grandmaster | Audio
As others have said, it's probably unwise to talk to the green-eyed spirits directly until you have more information. But it's a good start to communicate with the friendlier ones.
[Everyone rejoice, he read other people's responses. (Well the Soldier's and Rosinante's because he knows them and casually skipped the others. It's still progress.]
no subject
[ he's going to take the username at face value and come to the conclusion this is a very important guy. ]
I definitely want to talk with the forest spirits and see if they can give us clues about... stuff. [ sorry for being vague, sir, daylight does not say but hopes resonate through the feeds. trying not to spill too much detail on the network. ] If anyone has a better idea of what's going on, it'll be them. They've lived through... everything, someway and somehow.
no subject
[It's awkward now that they know the spirits are using the network. Whatever the bulletin had been about didn't seem friendly.]
If they've been here through the previous resets they could give us some insight to how we are progressing. Perhaps we're on the right track and that's why we were attacked.
no subject
the last observation has daylight make a confused noise. as if he couldn't quite grasp the idea just yet. ]
Like... They're trying to push us harder, sir? Something along those lines? [ because... it seems counterproductive, daylight won't lie. ]

[Akira doesn't have anything that could help Daylight in his quest, but!! if he recalls correctly. . .]
You're awake.
no subject
[ daylight perks up when he hears the familiar voice, relief evident when he realises that oh- he's okay! ]
Yeah. I'm awake and have the stiff winglets to prove it. Um- You weren't too badly, were you?
@cuttingedge; Voice
I didn't get anything.
no subject
It's why I want to do this project, you know? So we're not just limited to a collection of phrases and sentences that can only help us in a specific pinch.
[ like- he's super grateful of ms. robin offering them the app and the knowledge in the first place. so day is going to do what he can to expand it for everyone's sake. ]
no subject
Are you sure that talking to them is a good idea right now?
no subject
It's now or never, I suppose. [ that's the best way to summarise it. let's see if he can explain it better: ] They already showed a willingness to answer the others a while back. It wouldn't hurt to try and capitalise that while the encounters with the others are, um, still fresh in their minds.
Plus- When will it be a good time to speak with them?

[That would make things easier with collaborating with the spirits! And he knows music!]
Does it work with any music, or just those ocarinas?
no subject
[ daylight's voice perks up at this point. he seems to enjoy the topic of music. ]
And I'm actually working on it. The talking in other ways, I mean. I'm trying to figure out more about their language to make it, um, more accessible to us. So we don't just have to use the ocarinas and the phrases we have on the tablet's app. [ it's going to take a while - a few months at the very least, if he recalls grandma's lectures correctly - but day is determined to make this work for the others and the spirits. ]
no subject
Yeah, I could experiment talking to them with different melodies. Maybe they just like all kinds of music.
no subject
[ and very useful to boot. daylight takes careful note of that, telling himself to ask him for help later when he later begins transcribing the ocarina's notes into other instruments' melodies. ]
If you want to do that, I definitely encourage you, buddy! I'm actually working on this theory that, um, maybe playing different musical instruments will have different effects on the spirits. Like trumpets and drums will energise them and pianos and violins will calm them. Stuff like that.
