hello. i'm shadow moon.

[ He includes a picture of himself so that people can make the connection between name and face. It shows a serious man with gray eyes who clearly has no idea how to take selfies. It's something like this, only darker. He Tried. ]

i'm no one special. i spent most of my life not doing much. then i got sucked into a war i didn't fully understand. i lost everyone i cared about, and then i died.

i don't know if knowing more would've made a difference for me or not. there were a lot of things outside of my control. but knowledge can make a difference here.

i've seen discussion about sharing information, but i haven't seen anything compiled and distributed yet. so that's what i've tried to do. this isn't something i've got experience doing. i've probably missed things. there are probably things that haven't been shared at all. if you can add to this and help make it more accurate, please do.

cut for length )

[ AND WITH ALL THAT SAID, he adds: ]

some people consider information and knowledge to be currencies. they want to keep it and peddle it out at their own convenience. i think that in a place like this, that's a good way to get people killed. we all have our own unique strengths, weaknesses, experiences, and observations. if you know something that can help others, please speak up.

thanks.

(( ooc: SUP Y'ALL. this info is from public network posts/comments. shadow isn't the type to read through every single person's conversation, so there's stuff he's missed! please shove info his way and he'll add it in, or suggest other ways for him to format things, or whatever else you'd like to do. shadow is icly not the greatest at this, but He Cares and He's Trying. o9 ))

My name is Wanda Maximoff. I have met several of you.
I have seen some of you die. Some of you have seen me die, as well.

We are, I think, intimate — if not consensually.

[ she attaches her dimly lit picture, taken near the church. a slow, measured breath, then she continues in her low, but confident voice, angled just so by her Eastern European accent: ]

We are here to survive, and we all know there is strength in numbers.

Trust is not given freely, it is earned, yes — but neither should we make sweeping generalizations about each other's competencies, young or old, when we each come from such unique... and uniquely horrifying... worlds.

[ the softest tapping sound accumulates in the background; her fingers, rarely ever idle, are dancing along the edges of her tablet as she runs through the paces of her message. ]

Winters spoke strongly of resets. I think about it each night. What drives them, if there is any reason or logic behind them. If they are not merely whims of the lighthouse keeper, then let it not be this:

Let it not be us, dividing into factions and turning on each other out of spite and fear, vengeance and guilt, carried past our deaths into this purgatory. Young, or old, or without classification. [ here's lookin' at you, five. ] We will only die again faster this way, festering in mistrust.

[ in this moment, she wishes perhaps more ardently than ever before that steve were here — he knows the power of a call to arms, how to be the tree that does not move, the liberating thrill of speech — despite how glad she is that he is not a victim with her. her captain, her beating heart, her family. ]

Each project will always have its own team.
But we shall try to be one town, yes?

I think we can.

So
How many of you have people from your own world here?
Because it's me and two of my friends
Only the three of us didn't die at the same time
And I'm just wondering how often this kind of thing happens

WEEKLY BULLETIN

announcements

  • Weather: that hideous heat wave is finally coming to a close, thank goodness. Now you just have to contend with normal summer weather, which, while irritating, still isn't trying to actively melt you.

  • The weird demanding message from the past two weeks has finally been answered! Someone could have starved in that time, two whole weeks, get better at responding to ads . . . but no, someone finally went and got the Librarian some food, so all's well that ends well.

  • Speaking of the Librarian: there's a library. Utilize it. Educate yourselves. It's not like you're doing a whole lot else, huh? Actually, forget the library, there's a whole-ass village! It has ice cream! It has more rooms! It has a library, as previously and passive-aggressively mentioned! Boy oh boy.

  • That lighthouse pattern's been solved! GO BACK, it says, which seems pretty straightforward. Heed it. Or don't. It's your (second) funeral.

classifieds
  • None this week! :(

  • If you wish to submit an advertisement, please drop them by the post office

obituaries

  • Vanitas (7/1 - 7/16): Half a heart but all finger-licking good, huh?
