I don't generally put conditions on doing the right thing.

That's a bit more complicated. The spirits are of a different mindset. This is their home.

[But he knows what she's saying. There's just not much that can be done for them as long as they're without their lanterns. And no telling how many can be recovered from where they've been lost. A lot to consider.]

I was working on a way to separate myself from the lighthouse. Not forever, but make it so that anyone could come and go without fear of being attacked. Thought I had it, but I miscalculated. I got out, but it didn't last. Now that there's not a lighthouse, doesn't really matter anymore.

[It matters in some ways: when he died, everyone died with him. And now he's back, the only survivor from that era of Beacon. That's something he'll reflect on further in private.]

Suffice to say the last thing I remember isn't pretty.
