what was the research about in particular? or is that just another thing you'll delicately avoid commenting on

I had a few different projects, but finding a means of properly translating the language of the world eaters was a particularly important one. I'd already become fluent in the standard language of spirits as well as the deviation of the green-eyeds.

the transformer was looking into spirit language, but he's basically a tin can now, so

why bother talking to them, exactly?

Because shoot first and ask questions later has proven time and again in the course of history to be a terrible idea?

It's always better to have more information than less. Talking to them could be pointless, but we'll never know if we simply can't.
