so me and wash and gene were gonna go on an adventure in the woods
see what we can find, you know?
but we're looking for a couple of people to bring with us
maybe two or three
gene's a medic, wash is a marine, and i'm a wizard with experience dealing with monsters and nasty magic
anyone that thinks they could round that out would be great
but no serial killers or anyone that would like
murder us in our sleep
and sorry, but no kids yet
i know some of you are gonna argue that, but we have no idea what we're dealing with and we don't want that on our consciences

[ For all that Nate has accepted his death, he's still angry about the way in which he died. The way Rafe basked in his revelation like he'd enjoyed a five-star meal.

More than anything Nate is frustrated that Rafe is on such friendly and conversational terms with his roommate, with others, and maybe it's petty, but since he's never gotten to utilize pettiness in his entire goddamn life he feels a little entitled to the notion. ]

[ It's hard to say which was the greater drive behind it — the realization that for once, just once he had the drop on Nate or the opportunity to make Sam squirm for all the shit he'd pulled. Overly theatrical? Maybe. But you take what you can get when you get it and Rafe had been conned out of enough to grab with both hands.

Not that it amounted to anything. They're both of them stuck here now with shit to show for it but what happens when you trust Sam Drake. ]

[ It isn't a threat, or an ultimatum. He's simply exhausted, and Rafe's presence and the Wall Street charisma he oozes only serve to remind Nate of what he isn't by comparison, not that he ever bothered to compare their apples and oranges in the first place. Pity he's got all the time in the world to do so now, with no respite for his troubles. ]

[ The dismissal rankles, even if Rafe doesn't have the first clue as to why Nate tries to brush it all off. Wouldn't be able to guess in a million years. All he sees is something starting and being judged not worth the effort to finish whatever that something is. Clenching his teeth on the other end of the line, he forces himself to a calmer tone than he's used elsewhere tonight. ]
