[There is the background noise of the wind at the window -- the blizzard may be on its final legs, but its still cold as hell and the wind is distinctive. When Jason starts though it's easy enough to hear him, he sounds better than he did a month ago when he was recovering from injuries, someone is ready to get back into things.]
Hello everyone. I don’t use this network very often, but since the blizzard has made it kind of difficult to meet in person I thought I would put it to use.
[There's a pause. He knows it displays usernames, but he knows also that he hasn't used it to broadcast like this before.]
This is Jason Grace. I have noticed that several of us have been doing a kind of unofficial patrol of the area. I think when our area of living was smaller that was one thing, but we’ve now opened up into a whole new place to live and that means we are spreading out, it’s getting harder to keep tabs on everyone...to keep us together.
[Safe. He wants to say safe, but that sounds utterly ridiculous in a place like this. Still there is such a thing as 'safer' he supposes. He moves on.]
Back at Camp Jupiter, each cohort was responsible for different tasks around camp. Usually there was a rotation of sorts, though those of us in the Fifth got stuck with cleaning the Baths or taking care of the basilisk infestation more often than the others. Still, it was a good system because it helped keep us organized and accountable to each other.
[Of course, there had been other assignments, quests and war games and always busy. He wishes he could implement more of that here, but he has to remind himself he isn't dealing with his usual demigods -- Roman, Greek, or otherwise. These are (mostly) regular people who, while many are fighters in their own right, don't seem to necessarily live for the idea of cooperation.]
I’m not suggesting we need to start a chore wheel or anything, but one of those duties was a regular, scheduled patrol of the perimeter and entryways into Camp Jupiter and New Rome as a whole.
I think if different people are out on patrol anyway, it makes sense to coordinate our efforts and use the numbers to our advantage. We don’t have to patrol solo and we can certainly make sure that our timing is spaced out more. It was even suggested to me that we could stagger the patrols, so that different people can be in different areas. Whatever we do, I think it’s important that we stay coordinated. It works out better that way.
I’ve got a spare notebook that I can take my drawing out of and we can use as a Patrol Roster instead for the time being. I’ve got some other ideas, but I’ll need materials from Rastus first. For now, I’ll put it down in the same place as the Log Book if anyone wants to contribute.
[There's some shuffling of paper and the sound of someone moving. Jason is apparently doing this RIGHT NOW. Was that everything? He thinks so.]
Thanks for hearing me out. I'll see you around soon.

I want to help you out with patrols! Um... I do a sort of rounds of Beacon and the locations during Spirit Day— It's this thing I do where I visit spirit friends of mine and see how they're doing and we hang and stuff.
[ he feels... silly, now that he admits to what he does on spirit day but! he stands by it since it's important to foster good relations with the spirits. ] I was thinking of making it more official-like for this, if you want. Ask how they're doing, if they've seen any weird stuff regarding the spirit march. Stuff like that.
(voice)
Still, that's something I want to get better at. I wasn't exactly our team's diplomat, but I wasn't terrible at it either. I want to be able to try and communicate better with the spirits as we move into the new year. I think it'd be good if we had more people able to do that.
I guess what I'm saying is that next time you have a spirit day do you think I could come along? I think what I'm lacking is I keep just practicing the ocarina on my own and not really trying it with the spirits.

besides soldat coming along with that one time a few months back, no one has shown much interest in day's spirit day. and with how hard he's been trying to make the spirit language more accessible for others, he's excited by the prospect of someone else tagging along to better know his friends. ] I- Yeah! Sure. That's great!
I was actually thinking of adding more, er, stops during Spirit Day to know the other spirits better. Places like the scrapyard and the library and stuff like that. We can do that together if you're cool with that.
[ he then adds, not as an afterthought but more of the fact he got everything immediate out of the way: ] I'm glad your left hand is better. It sucks that happened to you, buddy.

[He's not known for his musical talents and the ocarina was tricky.]
I think that sounds great -- it probably wouldn't do good to have the spirits thinking we're showing favorites or something.
[There's a pause.] Thanks. I think it was worth it...for the healing...but it was still frustrating having to relearn a lot of stuff with my hand.

[ sounds like he's up and rearing to go, having jason join him in a round of spirit week! let's hope the spirits don't mind another face visiting their neck of the woods.
he's about to ask something regarding the patrols but daylight pauses for a bit. something pops up in his processors and the little ping is enough to have him hum in thoughtful consideration. ]
... And, well... To let you know... I've also offered some music lessons to some of the others here as well. If you're ever interested in those, let me know? If I'm not around, you can at least carry a conversation with them
no subject
I got a tutorial...but continued lessons would probably be a good idea. So I think I'll take you up on that offer too.
[There's some amusement at his next words. He remembers his first meeting with Daylight after all.]
Maybe we can practice while trying more ice cream flavors?
no subject
Maybe we can even ask the Vendor if they could make a new flavour for us and everything! [ wouldn't that be a testament to how good they're getting in the spirits' language? getting a niche thing made because they asked, nicely and everything? ]
But- Yeah. I can do patrols and I'm open to others joining me on Spirit Day. So- So I'll write down the details in the, um, Patrol Roster, right?
no subject
[He's mostly joking, but even as he says it he can't be sure it's not true.]
Yeah, I've already written my info so you can get an idea of what to put. Just look for it next time your near the Invincible.

[ daylight does a thumbs up and is suddenly glad this is audio because.
whoops yeah- this is audio. ]
R-Right. I'll write down my info soon as I can. I hope you and the other spirits hit it off when you join me for Spirit Day! I really think you and Fluffy will get along great.
