[There is the background noise of the wind at the window -- the blizzard may be on its final legs, but its still cold as hell and the wind is distinctive. When Jason starts though it's easy enough to hear him, he sounds better than he did a month ago when he was recovering from injuries, someone is ready to get back into things.]
Hello everyone. I don’t use this network very often, but since the blizzard has made it kind of difficult to meet in person I thought I would put it to use.
[There's a pause. He knows it displays usernames, but he knows also that he hasn't used it to broadcast like this before.]
This is Jason Grace. I have noticed that several of us have been doing a kind of unofficial patrol of the area. I think when our area of living was smaller that was one thing, but we’ve now opened up into a whole new place to live and that means we are spreading out, it’s getting harder to keep tabs on everyone...to keep us together.
[Safe. He wants to say safe, but that sounds utterly ridiculous in a place like this. Still there is such a thing as 'safer' he supposes. He moves on.]
Back at Camp Jupiter, each cohort was responsible for different tasks around camp. Usually there was a rotation of sorts, though those of us in the Fifth got stuck with cleaning the Baths or taking care of the basilisk infestation more often than the others. Still, it was a good system because it helped keep us organized and accountable to each other.
[Of course, there had been other assignments, quests and war games and always busy. He wishes he could implement more of that here, but he has to remind himself he isn't dealing with his usual demigods -- Roman, Greek, or otherwise. These are (mostly) regular people who, while many are fighters in their own right, don't seem to necessarily live for the idea of cooperation.]
I’m not suggesting we need to start a chore wheel or anything, but one of those duties was a regular, scheduled patrol of the perimeter and entryways into Camp Jupiter and New Rome as a whole.
I think if different people are out on patrol anyway, it makes sense to coordinate our efforts and use the numbers to our advantage. We don’t have to patrol solo and we can certainly make sure that our timing is spaced out more. It was even suggested to me that we could stagger the patrols, so that different people can be in different areas. Whatever we do, I think it’s important that we stay coordinated. It works out better that way.
I’ve got a spare notebook that I can take my drawing out of and we can use as a Patrol Roster instead for the time being. I’ve got some other ideas, but I’ll need materials from Rastus first. For now, I’ll put it down in the same place as the Log Book if anyone wants to contribute.
[There's some shuffling of paper and the sound of someone moving. Jason is apparently doing this RIGHT NOW. Was that everything? He thinks so.]
Thanks for hearing me out. I'll see you around soon.

I would like to request that any patrols that sight the spirit parade make sure to report their location on the map app in the tablets. I've been noticing them gathering this last week not far from the bonfire square.
no subject
That spirit parade makes this kind of thing even more crucial I think. I agree about notifying everyone about their movements.
...
Should we look into reinforcing the barricades at the Invincible if they're coming that close?
no subject
The barricade supplies are still largely in place and I've checked the windows to make sure they're still shut, but people need to be cautious if they come near. We still don't know for sure what their music does with more than a few seconds of exposure, but I have my guesses.
no subject
They're a kind of monster back home that are pretty famous for luring sailors to their death, though there are a few people who have encountered them and survived. Mostly by plugging their ears.
Maybe we could ask Rastus for a big box ear plugs to distribute, I don't think there's anything like that in the store.

I want to help you out with patrols! Um... I do a sort of rounds of Beacon and the locations during Spirit Day— It's this thing I do where I visit spirit friends of mine and see how they're doing and we hang and stuff.
[ he feels... silly, now that he admits to what he does on spirit day but! he stands by it since it's important to foster good relations with the spirits. ] I was thinking of making it more official-like for this, if you want. Ask how they're doing, if they've seen any weird stuff regarding the spirit march. Stuff like that.
(voice)
Still, that's something I want to get better at. I wasn't exactly our team's diplomat, but I wasn't terrible at it either. I want to be able to try and communicate better with the spirits as we move into the new year. I think it'd be good if we had more people able to do that.
I guess what I'm saying is that next time you have a spirit day do you think I could come along? I think what I'm lacking is I keep just practicing the ocarina on my own and not really trying it with the spirits.
no subject
besides soldat coming along with that one time a few months back, no one has shown much interest in day's spirit day. and with how hard he's been trying to make the spirit language more accessible for others, he's excited by the prospect of someone else tagging along to better know his friends. ] I- Yeah! Sure. That's great!
I was actually thinking of adding more, er, stops during Spirit Day to know the other spirits better. Places like the scrapyard and the library and stuff like that. We can do that together if you're cool with that.
[ he then adds, not as an afterthought but more of the fact he got everything immediate out of the way: ] I'm glad your left hand is better. It sucks that happened to you, buddy.

@langit; private (or sent to jason's inbox)
(wait did i tell you to call me sora or did i tell that to someone else?? i don't remember)
anyway i was looking at your post about patrols and i was wondering if you could put me on the list?
i'm going to be living at the landmark so i can definitely cover a patrol downtown
@langit; private (or sent to jason's inbox)
I'll be bringing one by the Landmark soon if you want to put yourself on there. I figured having one out there would make the most sense, but I can write your name just as easily. I just need some details about what days or times you tend to patrol.
no subject
it's just me and rhys and carmilla out here for right now
i like them a lot but besides the people exploring downtown i don't think anyone's gonna do any actual patrolling?
i wanna start protecting this place if i can!

Why did you... have to clean the bath?
[ Were you a trouble maker, Jason? Or were the other people moutbreathers? ]
no subject
[In this case it didn't have anything to do with him getting in trouble...but yes he did that sometimes too. It's surprising, he knows, but he never could stand bullies or mouthbreathers and there were plenty of those in Cohort 1 and 2.]
I should probably add that we aren't talking about your normal house bathroom. Roman Baths are WAY bigger and fancier. Are you familiar with spas at all? It was more like that, but with like hot springs and communal areas for washing off and stuff.
no subject
Best not think about that too much. ]
What's a... spa?

Are there that many people doing real patrols? [Jo just keeps an eye on things when she's walking around. An official patrol route feels like a lot.
But a good idea. Damn.]
audio
[He considers her second question.]
Define 'real'. Cause most of us were just kind of walking around and keeping an eye on things, this was just a way to make that a bit more official and coordinated.
Re: audio
Is the camp for demigods too? [Because if it is, he must be one. That's curious. And possibly trouble.]
I meant like, every day as in real. I keep my eyes open when I run around but I don't have a schedule.
