[There is the background noise of the wind at the window -- the blizzard may be on its final legs, but its still cold as hell and the wind is distinctive. When Jason starts though it's easy enough to hear him, he sounds better than he did a month ago when he was recovering from injuries, someone is ready to get back into things.]

Hello everyone. I don’t use this network very often, but since the blizzard has made it kind of difficult to meet in person I thought I would put it to use.

[There's a pause. He knows it displays usernames, but he knows also that he hasn't used it to broadcast like this before.]

This is Jason Grace. I have noticed that several of us have been doing a kind of unofficial patrol of the area. I think when our area of living was smaller that was one thing, but we’ve now opened up into a whole new place to live and that means we are spreading out, it’s getting harder to keep tabs on everyone...to keep us together.

[Safe. He wants to say safe, but that sounds utterly ridiculous in a place like this. Still there is such a thing as 'safer' he supposes. He moves on.]

Back at Camp Jupiter, each cohort was responsible for different tasks around camp. Usually there was a rotation of sorts, though those of us in the Fifth got stuck with cleaning the Baths or taking care of the basilisk infestation more often than the others. Still, it was a good system because it helped keep us organized and accountable to each other.

[Of course, there had been other assignments, quests and war games and always busy. He wishes he could implement more of that here, but he has to remind himself he isn't dealing with his usual demigods -- Roman, Greek, or otherwise. These are (mostly) regular people who, while many are fighters in their own right, don't seem to necessarily live for the idea of cooperation.]

I’m not suggesting we need to start a chore wheel or anything, but one of those duties was a regular, scheduled patrol of the perimeter and entryways into Camp Jupiter and New Rome as a whole.

I think if different people are out on patrol anyway, it makes sense to coordinate our efforts and use the numbers to our advantage. We don’t have to patrol solo and we can certainly make sure that our timing is spaced out more. It was even suggested to me that we could stagger the patrols, so that different people can be in different areas. Whatever we do, I think it’s important that we stay coordinated. It works out better that way.

I’ve got a spare notebook that I can take my drawing out of and we can use as a Patrol Roster instead for the time being. I’ve got some other ideas, but I’ll need materials from Rastus first. For now, I’ll put it down in the same place as the Log Book if anyone wants to contribute.

[There's some shuffling of paper and the sound of someone moving. Jason is apparently doing this RIGHT NOW. Was that everything? He thinks so.]

Thanks for hearing me out. I'll see you around soon.

Good idea. I believe Soldat was also interested in organizing patrols before and now it's even more important. Make sure to speak with them if they don't say anything here.

I would like to request that any patrols that sight the spirit parade make sure to report their location on the map app in the tablets. I've been noticing them gathering this last week not far from the bonfire square.

Hi Jason! It's me- Daylight!

I want to help you out with patrols! Um... I do a sort of rounds of Beacon and the locations during Spirit Day— It's this thing I do where I visit spirit friends of mine and see how they're doing and we hang and stuff.

[ he feels... silly, now that he admits to what he does on spirit day but! he stands by it since it's important to foster good relations with the spirits. ] I was thinking of making it more official-like for this, if you want. Ask how they're doing, if they've seen any weird stuff regarding the spirit march. Stuff like that.

[ Maybe it's a weird thing to focus on. Eleven would love to volunteer here, but... right now, she is useless. She doesn't know if she'll ever be useful again.

So, the mind of a child trying to dodge the weight of emotional baggage, skips instead to... ]

Why did you... have to clean the bath?

[ Were you a trouble maker, Jason? Or were the other people moutbreathers? ]

I want to help, but I'm not much of a combatant. Is that still useful?

[ He can shield, but he doesn't really count that as an offensive skill. ]

Wait, was your camp really named New Rome? [Some things are starting to make sense.]

Are there that many people doing real patrols? [Jo just keeps an eye on things when she's walking around. An official patrol route feels like a lot.

But a good idea. Damn.]
