Hey guys! So, I made a post about studying the language a month or so, right? I made progress on it! Not a lot of progress but some progress? With words and everything? Got a few phrases and descriptives and stuff like that!

Hmmm... It'll be easier to explain this if I demonstrated it to you guys, right? Right- I'll use the ocarina for this but, um, I promise, we'll try to transcribe the melodies to other instruments soon. Anyways-

[ daylight then proceeds to play a series of melodies and notes, taking his time to explain what they mean and how to play it on the ocarina.

when he finishes his little demo, he continues talking: ] Later, in the day, I'll add all of this stuff to the spirit language app we have on the tablet here. So you guys can practice it for yourselves if you want to do that.

And... Um... For the next few months, I'll be more focused on trying to crack the grammar of the spirits' language since I think the lexicon - I think that means the total words and stuff? (sorry, grandma!) - is robust enough that I don't need to keep digging for new combinations to the phonetics anymore.

So yeah... That's it! If you guys, like, have questions about how to play the music and, er, stuff- Let me know? I'll try to answer what I can.

And, um, sorry but I think this is where the 'different universes mean convergence of facts and information' kicks in.

Never heard of any of those places besides California and, where I'm from, the only people who stay there are the rangers. I think my Auntie Laura and Uncle Leeds once travelled there to investigate a problem during the storm season but that's about it. Auntie Chris' family stayed in New York City - so you knew they were super-rich to stay there - and Auntie Eps kind of? Drifted around after she got to the U.S.

[ it's a weird request but he'll respect it. he knows for a fact he's asked for weirder things from his friend - never forget nightbreak actually following through with the idea of the trenchcoat. - and, thus, could extend that same willingness to others.

I know of gigantic mechanoids of all shapes and sizes harassing mid-Atlantic coast cities when my Auntie Laura and Uncle Leeds were leading their group. Never heard of any of them being pink and a snake!

[ and it seems daylight is implying that mid-atlantic coast cities have been harassed by both pink mechanoids and snake-like mechanoids. amazing. ]

[ Mechanoids. Big things, plural, on the same coast. Pink or a snake. Yep, that both doesn't and does track. He is also wounded that, wherever Day's from, New York apparently had rights and New Jersey did not. What a rude universe! ]

is it weird to say that i don't get multiple universes but i get that they exist?
at home they sort of were a big part of what happened to us

also why do you have so many aunts and uncles and why were they all completely metal

[ !!! it's exciting to hear that other universes also dealt with. and it seems langit dealt with it firsthand, too, if daylight is inferring his messages correctly. (man, he hopes that's how you say it. where's dialup when you need her quiet confirmation?)

but then he sees the question about his family and- freezes for a bit. oh. right.

it takes him a while to send out a message but daylight does, in the end, reply with something: ] They're not mechanoids, actually. (Most of) My aunties and uncles are human or technorganic, meaning still considered humanish.

I have some Galateion guardians, yeah, but that was way later in my life. When I was baby and until they passed away, Auntie Laura and Uncle Leeds raised me when guardianship got passed to them. Everyone else they know - their families and their friends and stuff - all chipped in. So I got a lot of Aunties and Uncles along the way.

[ Wow. It really takes a village, huh? Sora is now wondering how old Daylight is...? He's so big, but he sounds like he could be his age, maybe younger. But he's definitely smart enough to handle a big project like this... Impressive.

He doesn't want to touch the topic of Auntie Laura and Uncle Leeds - dealing with death is hard. He knows he never took it well. ]

did you end up leaving earth tho? you said that you stayed there for a while [ Which means he eventually left, right? ]

[ a family of heroes is a good way to describe day's family and his winglets perk up, fluttering at the nice description. it definitely helps pick up his mood after feeling a twinge of homesickness of his earth.

he tries to remain upbeat, not wanting to be, like, depressing or anything. ] Yeah, I did! Maybe when I was the equivalent of five or so? Give or take.

When they couldn't look after me anymore, Auntie Breakthrough and Uncle Kingsguard became my guardians instead. Ended up going to the moon since their station is based there.

[ ended up going where, day? ]

[ The equivalent? So time and growth were different for him? Skyler sat through some lessons about the life spans of fruit flies and whales but he hadn’t been listening. It has to be something like that though, right?

Sora is much better at gauging tone through body language than text - he has no idea that this is a touchy subject too. ]

how were your new aunts and uncles? [ He’s kind of making a jump about Day’s grandma - she had to be on Earth to study Earth languages, right? ]

They were nice. Auntie Breakthrough and Uncle Kingsguard care a lot for me but they were really overprotective back then.

[ they're probably still overprotective even now, considering the circumstances of daylight's departure.

but- he doesn't mention that. day does his best to be bubbly, sending another message: ] But I wanted to travel. I wanted to do what my mom and dad did, you know? Travel the stars. Help others. See the universe itself while I could. Life's too short to take chances, no matter how long or short your lifespan could be.

did you make a lot of new friends? were you traveling with anyone? what did you see out there?

[ the pause does make daylight tilt his helm, curious but TO BE FAIR..... daylight has no right to judge or wonder the time someone takes to reply to him, he of slow typing and wishy washy ways.

I boarded the Lornful Light! The very starship that my parents travelled and lead and even met in! If I had to journey out in the stars, what's a better place than the very ship my parents were part of?

Made lots of friends once I managed to get my bearings for interstellar space travel but my best friends are Nightbreak and Dialup, while the greatest and nicest and bestest boyfriend ever is Emergency Aid. (I just call him 'Emer' and he claims to hate it but he doesn't.)

And yeah! I saw so many cool things. I saw star clusters and temples to gods I never knew existed and jungles made of crystal and planets full of water controlled by songs.

It was tough at times - really tough, not gonna lie - but I wouldn't trade my time on the ship for anything. The worlds I saw. The people I met. I don't regret it. It was extraordinary

I know I'm lucky and I'm grateful for the chance to be on it. It's one of the best places I've been part of. (Nightbreak wiping my butt during sparring aside. She takes NO prisoners when we're training and my hydraulics creak at just the thought of her throwing me around.)

And yeah! I do! Got a lot of stories thanks to all the adventures my friends and I had. Whether it was official missions or us doing our own thing during shore leave.

Buuuuuuuuut I'm a little embarrassed because, like, 80% of them end in, 'and Daylight had to get saved by his friends because he tripped or was too small to put up much of a fight.' or something like that.

Sure! I'm not good as telling stories like Dialup or even Emer but I can try my best! And, if I can't hack it, I can always draw very impressive stick figures. :P

i'm in the library! i've got a cot in the teen fiction section but we can hang out at the tables as long as we keep it down
the librarian's pretty cool i don't want to make things hard for them

Oh! That's a really good place to stay while the winter is going on. The Librarian, from what I heard, is really nice!

Just make sure to leave no messes and definitely no taking books out without them knowing about it.

Do you need anything from the general store? I can swing by and get something for you so your stay there is more comfortable. Hopefully, we find more areas you and the others can properly live in soon.

they're nice! they're SO nice!! i kinda thought they were gonna be kind of quiet but they're really funny and cool! they helped me find some books earlier today and they were really happy to help! i didn't think that the book i told them to find even existed... i'm gonna have to cook something REALLY good to thank them!

someone on the network told me that they were checking out some places close to beacon with more rooms, so i'm hoping that works out!

[ awwww- that's really nice of the librarian to do. day is happy to hear that someone's experience with a spirit has been such a positive one. with how hard he's trying to make the language more accessible and open to the others, he hopes this happens more often.

and now he wishes he had gotten a gift for them as well during the winter holidays but! lesson learned: get something nice for the equally nice librarian. ]
