[ the audio picks up just as some sort of agreement has been made between two parties - one of them consisting of coraline and daylight, judging by the voices, and the other consisting of the nice ice cream crab vendor due to their chat about wanting to sample all the flavours.
yes. all of the flavours. daylight cheerfully explains what's happening: apparently, the two are going to taste all thirty-one flavours that the crab vendor has to offer. shout out to coraline for the really neat idea...!

But the truth is...
...Riku is proud of him for taking that leap. He doesn't want to embarrass him, so he permits the shift to another topic, but the warm regard that kindles in his chest is something he maintains, a palm against the steady beat of his heart. ]
Only in the hundreds, he says.

It's more than a number, Daylight. I'd say you've done a lot of growing in almost no time at all.
[ He says, realizing only moments later that he's echoed the words of a dear friend, worlds and worlds away. ]

daylight smiles down the tablet, something about the words ringing both true and sincere for the hybrid. and, honestly, those are words he thinks he needed to hear but never realised he needed to hear until it's been said so it's doing things to him. and while he knows he can't cry - he doesn't have the genetics for that - but he knows that he would be tearing up at this moment.
he ends up hugging the tablet to his chassis as he tries to keep his sniffles down, just so it isn't picked up by the audio. (it'll most likely be drowned out by how hard his winglets are fluttering right now.)
after he composes himself, he pulls back and clears his vocaliser so he can speak again: ]

Riku's reserved, often standoffish and serious demeanor can put people off. That he warms so quickly and so easily with Daylight says a lot to how his earnest personality and sincerity of character disarms.
He has got to get him and Sora in the same room. For now, hearing Daylight speak, there's a low chuckle. ]

[ Riku glances over his shoulder, back at the boathouse, gaze dropping to the ground, back up again as he considers the boy too often pretending to sleep in his hammock. He's worried. There's really no other way to put it. ]

[ daylight isn't sure how to feel about that admission. he sounds a tad hesitant. not rejecting it right away but- not immediately accepting it.
because his first thoughts are of dreadnaught, angry and resentful for things that daylight doesn't understand and probably will never understand. but, thankfully enough, his next thoughts are of uncle aesculapius, accepting of flaws and all. a grump, sure, but a grump with a core of rivergold.
