[audio] @HK; [open] (BACKDATED TO JUST BEFORE CLARA'S POST)

( hey there, beacon bits! There are some intrepid adventurers here to discuss some discoveries, and … well, it’s a bit of a good news, bad news situation…

Let’s start with the good news, huh? Matt will start them off. )

A group of us went to explore the tunnels, and we successfully made it into the lab. If you try the code 071969, you should be able to get in yourself. We only explored the fork to the left, there might be still more to discover down there. Possibly another entrance, hard to say.

( with that, the device is handed off to Minimus. )

We have found several documents and machinery within, including the equipment Dr. Solis used to fix lanterns. Having tested it briefly, it also scans it for basic information on our well-being. There are a collection of her notes on her computer, though they will take a longer visit to fully review. Unfortunately, the doctor herself was nowhere to be seen.

( Minimus holds it steady as he passes it to Kuai. )

It’s worth noting that something, or someone, was aware of the labs location before we arrived. There’s footsteps in the woods that lead to and away from it, as if someone was attempting to peer through the windows. It was difficult to tell from the footprints if it’s human or a spirit, but either way if you’re out there remain vigilant. It would be wise to draw as little attention to it as possible.

The remains of the Doctor’s lantern are by the machine. I fear it’s too late to try and revive her - but maybe someone who understands her notes better will have success.

( last words fall to Matt. )

If you want to check it out yourself, either of the three of us can help you there. And any questions, we can try to answer… but a lot of it might require explorations of your own.

( ooc: expect answers from any of the three fellas! )

This is some good work. Don't know how I can help exactly, but if anyone has suggestions, I'm here to take them. Hoping our science types can make some sense of what's in there.

How safe were the tunnels? Any problems?

They were relatively safe compared to the forest. I will work on creating a sign for the tunnels to ensure that future explorers do not get lost if they must take the underground route.

That would be helpful until someone has time to investigate the other fork. I'm glad there's a safe way to get around, though. How long was the walk?
legalcy: (🎵 i got a call)

[personal profile] legalcy 2020-06-24 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
We took several minutes to find our way to the fork due to our unfamiliarity with the area. With the proper lighting, the walking time could be reduced to less than half an hour underground, assuming one entered from the gate and walked as a typical pace.

That's not bad at all. I'll see about making time to look around down there. As long as they're cleared out and patrolled regularly, this could be a big help.

That is understandable. We should organize an expedition once I have the sign up.

Granted. I will keep you in mind.

Is there any indication that whoever was there before you was trying to find what you did?
paletteswap: (Will do what is necessary)

It's difficult to tell, they were looking in the windows and may have tried the door, but there's nothing beyond that. It may have been a forest spirit attracted by the torch in the window, but there's always a chance it's something more sinister.
ultraviolents: but that's what i'll do (and that ain't what you want to hear)

[personal profile] ultraviolents 2020-06-20 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's better than a broken window or lock. [ but yeah, she wouldn't trust that it's not something dangerous, either. ]

How complicated did the notes look to you?

[personal profile] paletteswap 2020-06-21 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
The overview was easy to parse, the deeper notes were fairly complex. But I don't have a science background.

[Also barely reads English so there's that too.]

Someone who's familiar with such things might have a better chance at deciphering the graphs and charts.

[personal profile] ultraviolents 2020-06-21 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
I don't either, but I can read a few languages and could probably follow the instructions if they're simple enough. [ something like restoring someone's life force via a lantern is bound to be much more complicated, though. ]

Although if we can find someone willing to go who's got a more scientific background, all the better.
paletteswap: (Not sure)

[personal profile] paletteswap 2020-06-21 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems fairly straightforward from a grand overview, the lantern goes into the machine and you match the lantern with who it belongs to in the system. Then it runs some sort of diagnostic.

We tried it with the doctor's lantern which came back with everything as zero's and null. There weren't any additional prompts to try and reignite it, so there's a lot more to discover.

[ fortunately she's the one person he doesn't have to explain that to. ]

When would you feel up to leading someone back? [ she'd like to get a look at those notes. ]

I was hoping you'd ask, it's been a while since we've had a date night.

[ elektra pls. ]

Whether or not I can perform what they detail is another story.

[ dark alleys, dark rooftops, dark tunnels, same thing. ]

I still need help getting there. [ you helped find the place, matthew, give yourself some credit. ]

[ fine, she'll do it for him. ]

How do you know I don't? You mentioned there were parts you didn't get to explore.

Sure, until the dimensions in the tunnels start changing on me.

[ not that that kind of thing has happened in beacon...yet... ]
