Greetings.

I'm sure we've all seen Clara's post. Without Doctor Solis no one can be revived, making death permanent and meaning we all must exercise additional caution around our lanterns. It's critical we get to the lab and retrieve the notes that the Doctor left, then perhaps we can bring back those who have fallen or understand more about the portal that was used to bring us here.

I have a vague idea of where the lab is, but it's several hours out and I don't want to have a group of us wander aimlessly looking for it. Does anyone here have a better idea of how to pinpoint it? There's an image of stars taken from the doorway of the lab if anyone knows how we could use such a thing to navigate.

Fjord, could the tunnels you found possibly connect to the lab? Do you know which way they were leading?

Solis herself said that she used the tunnels are connected to the church. It's a good lead.

( he's ... slightly hesitant to suggest this, but, they are in the middle of desperate odds and even more desperate measures. )

We should try and think of potential codes over guessing. Still, I have ... good senses. I might be able to figure out which numbers she was using. I might even be able to hear the difference between the right button and the wrong one.

I can show you the keypad under the church if you want to try it. I didn't notice any difference in sounds except when the number key was pressed. But you may hear better than I do.

( someone else touching it is bound to make it a lot harder to isolate which ones had been pressed repetitively by Solis, but... it's still worth a shot. )

I imagine I do. ( he's not elaborating, but yes, his senses are pretty good. )

It's worth a try. Especially if we can't think of anything else. But I'd be able to get a better read on it before it's been touched by too many others. I'm sure I'd know right away if I can help or not.

I don't think anyone else has been down there. I only tested the keypad under the river. I wasn't going to bring you down to that one unless you really want to, it's a long way.

Tell me when you would like to go.

There's a chance that the system will lock if we put through the wrong code too many times. It'd be better to figure out some options before we head down there.

If this tunnel belonged to Solis, then there's a good chance that she set the password. They're usually something personal. Dates, more often than not, especially when it's a numerical code.

The one at the river didn't seem to and I tried a lot of combinations.

The robot told Fjord it was "a numerical sequence" of Solis's "proudest achievement" and to check the notes from the dreams. Where are those now?

I'm not sure. I can't say I've used them.

Solis invented a lot of things. Could be something like that. I couldn't guess which would be her proudest.

If it was important in the dreams of Beacon's past it's probably the portal. The date she finished it or the date she opened it. Might be the same year.

[And they are. Soldat shows up outside the Invincible about ten minutes later, looking vaguely confused, but amiable.]

[ Pudding actually meets him at the door and has to stop herself from hauling him in by the arm. Literally anyone else wouldn't get the luxury of crossing the threshold without a good tug at this point. ]

Come on come on! [ She's not snipping at him but she's clearly frazzled, and the moment the door is shut she makes a wordless noise of boiled-over frustration. ]

This whole network thing is so troublesome! It's not even safe to send a private message? I tried sending Kuai Liang all the information I had but I don't think he knows what to do with it and argh, there are dates in the log book, Soldat! Numerical ones!

[He trots up the steps and inside, still a little baffled by her reaction. She has the answer they need, that's a good thing, why get so worked up about it?]

Oh, good. I thought there might be. I just don't know where it is. I thought Fitz took all the things from the town hall, and was going to set them up somewhere new. Do you have it?

[ She stamps a foot. No one pays attention to anything!!!! ]

There's been a copy in The Invincible for at least as long as I've been here! It was up on that little housekeeper's dresser in the second floor landing. I moved it into the drawers with the dry herbs in the third-floor common room [ or what they were using as one ] in case the water made a mess of the second floor hall and there it still sits!

[ Specifically, she sealed the bottom and sides edges of that drawer with tar and wax paper and more wax. Seemed like the right place for documents, too. ]

And there's a copy in the old posts on the network, though I don't know if they match.

Where are the logs now? It'd be worth it to go through them, see if anyone remembered dates from their dreams.

[The answer comes a bit later, because Pudding interrupted and there was a bit of shouting to mitigate.]

Fitz collected most of the paperwork from the town hall so the most updated copy should be in his room. A slightly more out-dated copy is in the Invincible third floor common room we used during the flood. A more outdated copy than that is on the network, though I haven't found where yet.

Apparently there is a date. 1969. That matches the wear pattern on the keys. We will check if there is a month or day included just in case.

Of course. If it pertains to the logs, I'm afraid I can't read it. ( he hates to admit it but there's no room to be proud right now. )

Of course. There's an older version on the network, but I think it still contains the information we might need.

[ As Soldat arrives first, though, he gets the full wind of her. Explosion. Whether Matt shows up at The Invincible or not, at least Soldat is able to relay the info. ]

Did she say why they were locked in such a way? If there's something dangerous down there it would be best to be prepared for it.

Not that I remember. I think it was more a matter of protection. She mentioned that past groups were hostile toward her. It makes sense she'd put security measures in place. Not to keep something in, but to keep people out.

Either way, even if there is something dangerous... finding her lab is the best option we have. We should be ready for a fight, if it comes to that.

Makes sense. She only wanted to meet Daylight and one other person at first just in case things went poorly. From how many groups she's seen, and how they seemed to have turned on each other, I cannot blame her.

I'm not suggesting we put off finding the lab; until that's discovered we may not have a way to repair lanterns. I want to leave as soon as we know enough to not be setting ourselves up for getting hopelessly lost or worse. And I expect everything to come to a fight. That's what I've trained for.

Can't say I blame her, either. It does put us at a disadvantage now, but we'll figure it out. We have to.

Believe it or not, it's what I've trained for too. I'm happy to come along if you need more bodies.

I welcome the assistance. I'd be willing to go alone, but I'm not the person we want poking around any sort of lab. The last one I was in I blew up.

[Not to mention he doesn't understand half the stuff Clara has been telling everyone about.]

As soon as we can get the code to the door and gather some supplies I want to set out.
