hi guys! uhhhh i hope i'm doing this right

my name's sora and some friends and me are trying to build a boat!


we finished a raft first cause it was easier, but i've only seen hand tools laying around so getting the wood and shaping it and stuff sure is taking awhile. we've made a couple before so even though we don't have anything fancy it'll probably just take a few days, but it'd sure go a lot faster with help.

and maybe sandpaper, i only found a little bit.

anyway, is anyone else used to building stuff?
even if you just wanna help out that'd be great! i guess i don't really have a way to pay you or anything, but i'll let you name the boat! that's fair, right? or if we get lots of help we could probably make more than one.

a skiff should be just enough to get around and i figure to hold 2 people it'd have to be like..... 8 feet long, and for 3 maybe at least 12. it's gonna take awhile though! even with my dad and all his stuff back home it was almost 3 whole weeks. i kinda figured if we got lots of hands that we could make up for not having any of the special gadgets. like i heard you can sand wood down by just using rocks inside a shirt! i already have lots of blisters


oh! and riku said it'd be cool to see if anybody knows how to uhhh what was it

make a lens? so we could use
a torch as a spotlight?

i think that part'll be a little further off

i bet we could follow that boat back and see where it goes. it's gotta go somewhere, right?

I thought so too but I asked Winters. He said it wasn't of this world, or something. Couldn't be followed.
But he also said there was no point in boats at all and couldn't figure out why I wanted one, so we already know he's wrong.
Maybe he's afraid of water.

wait what? how do we know he's wrong?

somebody has to be driving the boat right? how else does it get here to drop people off and then drive away again?

Because he said there's no point in boats! Who says that? Just doesn't sit right with me.
Also it was kind of a joke.

But that ferry, I dunno. He said it was some sort of otherworldly thing. Seemed quick to dismiss it as beyond us.

maybe it's a secret? they said there's resets so maybe they're like do-overs and they've had to kick people out before?

i wonder if anybody could sail back if they just got back on the ferry... or if they decided not to get off in the first place

Who knows. I'm not sure I believe the story about the ferry coming from some magical death place, anyway. I figure there must be a town with supplies out there somewhere. We've just got to find it.

i dunno... is it any weirder than already being in a magical death place?

Not sure that's fact either. I know a lot of you come from worlds where magic is real, but I don't. If there's another explanation I'd rather investigate it before assuming magic is the only answer.

Dr. Ingram said he'd thought it was something about parallel universes and physics. Not that I understood that any better but it's a different opinion.

i just thought that magic was

you know, the stuff that happens that's not gravity, or making volcanos for the science fair. like a surprise!

we all remember dying so it's the afterlife, right?

It is definitely happening after life.
I'm hoping exploring will help us gather more information on what it is for sure, though - afterlife or otherwise.

does that mean there's something really specific you're hoping for? like a special idea?

No. I don't know enough to make an assumption either way. I've heard a variety of ideas from different people. Best not to pick one as likely until you can rule others out, I figure.

to be honest, timelines and physicals all sound like magic to me. it's still real even if we can't explain it, right?

Sure. And I don't know if we'll ever get explanations for everything. But it's nice to try, otherwise you feel like you just have to guess at everything all the time instead of being able to predict things some of the time.

I just mean in the normal sense of knowing what to expect. Nothing fancy.
