hi everybody! hope you all had an okay new years? can't say i missed the ball drop thing in new york. but i don't think i'm a huge fan of the onion thing the spirits like?

this is elle brandt, if we haven't spoken before. i have kind of a favor to ask of some of you? i'm looking for any musical instruments that we have here in beacon. either instruments you have, if you don't mind me borrowing them for just a little while, or instruments you've seen laying around somewhere (if possible). i found a kazoo in the general store but that's about it.

i won't be borrowing them for very long, hopefully. if they're really important to you, don't feel obligated. we don't have too many good distractions around here. especially if it's from your home.

Well, seems like he's at least well-behaved. Many werewolves I know lack quite a lot of manners. Eat with their elbows on the table, barely excuse themselves when they leave the table, and refuse to pay for the entire bill and instead insist on splitting.

are werewolves common where you're from? sounds like you have a lot of experience.

I'm far too intimately familiar than I'd like to be.

[ of course, kol's wondered if ever admitting he knows vampires, werewolves, witches, lions, tigers, and bears will inevitably come back to bite him as it always does. but sometimes he has to take risks. so, he takes one on elle, guessing that perhaps she won't pose a threat like witches, niklaus, werewolves, and vampires have tried to pose over the centuries. ]

Not every dog you walk by happens to be a werewolf, but they do sometimes overpopulate some cities. Some really need to learn how to groom themselves.

[ Ellever is, luckily, a failure as far as her eldritch heritage goes. She tends toward being friendly and kind, unlike the majority of her cousins. ]

that would be werecats. who groom themselves, i mean. i haven't met any personally but there are a lot of stories of big cats who shift into people or vice versa.

[ Were she back home, that would be something she'd look into. But... ]

How big are these werecats? Domestic cat size? Tiger size?

How do you even identify someone's a werecat?

[ Realistically, Ellever was never going to run out of things to study, even being functionally immortal. Her world is teeming with all kinds of creatures. ]

according to the stories, we're talking leopard or jaguar. i don't know about tigers. no idea about the identification thing. we can't identify werewolves, so who knows. it'd be a fun thing to study. the last thing i was studying was will o wisps before i got here.

Can't say I love Los Angeles, but I think a little Supernatural 101 could change my mind.

[ as long as it's nothing like new orleans with witches being unpleasant and vampires being brats, it'll be one of his favourite places in the world. ]

I'll even bring a notebook to prove I'm serious about learning. That's how people do it these days, isn't it? Or should I invest in an iPad?

i mean, i use notebooks, but a tablet is useful.

Honestly? No. I think these tablets will either be confiscated or cease working. I doubt this realm actually has a compatible satellite with actual earth.

But that's just my educated guess. If only we could ask Siri.

[ This makes her sigh out loud before she responds. He's probably right, but she wanted to take her tablet apart and look at it without worrying about all of her notes. Dangit. ]

siri would just give us some sort of snarky joke about the size of our bank accounts not being big enough for her.

Or that we have no friends. I did make the mistake of asking her something and I've never recovered.

What did you want to use your tablet for? Will you miss us if you managed to get out of here?

i kind of wanted to take it apart and see if it looks any different on the inside than other tablets. but yeah, i am gonna miss people here.

[ She's met a lot of really nice, interesting folks so far. Kol included. ]

expert's stretching it. let's call me an enthusiast. i'd still prefer to be making my notes for this place in a real notebook, but it would take too many. and we lack an office depot.

You know you can ask for one? I'm sure Rastus would be able to procure you one that is actually a notebook and not sone knock-off idea of one.
Perhaps he can even secure you a notebook that never has a final page.

i know. but i write a lot. it seems wasteful for him to bother with. maybe if he could find an unlimited notebook, that'd be pretty sweet. but otherwise i'll just try to think of crinkly paper while i peck notes in this thing.

Do you really have patience for taking actual notes? I always took them in my head. My brain's a rather riveting encyclopaedia.

i do, believe it or not. my memory's okay but not as good as an encyclopedia. i hope you have a nice leather cover for yours.

i've got notebooks upon notebooks on shelves back home from all of my research.

well no. i also lived in that room most of the time. but those bookshelves, yes. what about you? any collections?
