[text] @keeper; EVENT POST: LIGHT UP THE NIGHT [open]
Hi everyone!! I've got some exciting news!!!! O:
Oh, wait, hold on - a couple weeks ago Peter pointed out that you guys like super don't know what I look like or anything since I'm not around town. Whoops! I forgot! I'm sorry! So, like, here's a little selfie to dispel the ~mystery~...
[She attaches a picture!]
That's meeee. :) Super cute, right? But OK!!! Moving onto the fun stuff.
You should all head down to the beach like right away! I got some reeeeeeally neat stuff off the ferry this month to put on a little show for you guys... You might be able to see it a little bit from town, but your best bet is gonna be the beach! Keep your eye on the lighthouse!
And then after that, I have a cool event planned for you guys! I was thinking, like, the bonfire is still pretty contained in one spot, right? Rastus was telling me there's only a handful of torches around town, and I get that? I get that you want to like conserve this resource and all, super glad you're taking it real seriously, but like! It's meant to be USED, you know? Don't be that guy that hoards a buncha potions in Pokemon because "oh no what if I need all 99x of them one day!!!" but like, you're already fighting the Elite Four, you know?
My point is, Rastus is gonna be handing out torches like frickin' candy over the next couple days! You can take as many as you want, BUT you gotta make sure to place them around town to light this place the heck up! Put 'em in buildings or your houses or like, hell, you can light up paths and stuff to make traveling around easier! Put some on the beach to help with the dock you guys are building! IDK just put 'em in places! Use! The! Resource!
Sound good? Great! Come check out my little show down on the beach 'cos it's starting super soon! And then go DECORATE~ :) And be nice to Rastus since, like, between you and me? Talking him into a bonfire free-for-all was NOT easy. I owe him like a billion favors. You're welcome! Byeee!

I will do that.
[Shouldn't be too hard to figure out. Within half an hour, or so, it'll be available for download for anyone who wants it.]

=> Private
[It almost leaves it at that... but instead, they switch to private to ask a question:]
Robin why do the spirits know Morse Code
private
It's kind of close to their language, so... Maybe it's easier for them to pick it up? IDK.
no subject
So you think they learned it from you. Did they not know it when you first arrived here?
Also why do you keep going offline
[That seems counter-productive, to take her off the network with the resets.]
no subject
Aaaaand I wish I didn't have to go offline! But that's just how resets work. Have you ever played a video game with a save function?? It's kinda like that - the forest spirits put the town back to exactly how it was at some point in the past, and they ONLY know how to reset to that point.
Which means the little assholes unplug me. :/
no subject
That is asshole-like of them
[Look, they're trying to be sympathetic. Kind of.]
Which spirits do the reset
[Does owl-friend do it...? :( ]

I don't know, though. They're just following orders, and I can't UNDERSTAND the orders to change them, sooo... It's not their fault is what I'm saying.
Pretty much all of the spirits help. I think, anyway? I've never actually been on the ground while it's happening.
no subject
Why don't you understand the orders? You give them
[A thought occurs and is given a second message:]
Are they copied from previous orders from other keepers
no subject
She wrote the orders, but it's written in whatever weirdo language the World Eaters use. Totally incomprehensible, and Maridel was only like kiiiiiiinda barely able to make sense enough to form it into a command?
Attempts to rewrite the command have... not gone super well!
no subject
They have so many questions. And now they're glad they braved the network to start this conversation. This is valuable knowledge.]
why does a command in world eater language make spirits do things
dose maridel know any other world eater language
can maridel tlk to wes
[Sorry that all kind of came out in a rush of typing one-handed and there's a couple typos plus a spur-of-the-moment shorthand. Oops.]
no subject
You know, we actually have no fricking clue why the World Eater language works on them! I've tried asking a bunch of spirits about it, but they just look at me like I'm a dumbass because UM ROBIN WHY *WOULDN'T* WE KNOW WORLD EATER LANGUAGE??? Ugh!
Maridel suuuuuuper does not know World Eater language. It's like... So these words on the screen that I'm typing to you? Pretend it's notes in a song. World Eater language is playing all the notes in the song at the same exact time. It'd be like if all these letters were layered on top of each other in one little block.
It feels weird to even call it a language because it doesn't follow the same rules of communication that we're familiar with. When I said "totally incomprehensible" it was NOT hyperbole.
Maridel will probably be around to talk to you guys soonish? Maybe? She's around, but given that she's the OG Beacon resident, it's risky for her to turn up before the current group can be trusted to...
Not try to kill her?
She don't trust like that.
no subject
Do commands in the World Eater language affect anyone or anything other than the spirits or do you think that means the spirits are related to the World Eaters in some way?
[And the thought crosses their mind to offer Maridel personal protection, but knowing Crowley and Xayah, maybe even Scarlett, that might mean going up against them doing something stupid, and they're not sure they're capable. So the offer goes un-made. Sigh.]
