This is Jim Gordon.

I took the liberty of gathering a loose inventory of what we've got for supplies after the incident on the docks. With what was salvaged from the ferry that made it back to the General Store [ because he's positive not all of it did ] I'd say we have a little under a month of food to go around.

I know I haven't been here for very long, but I think it might be worth talking about rationing what we have left.

From what I've been able to gather, that ferry was our only line in or out to whatever mainland is sending in supplies. Without it, we don't know when, or how, we'll be getting replenished again.

The city I'm from— [ Jim's voice doesn't crack, there's an audible pause before he goes on. ] The city I'm from we've been separated from the mainland for months with very little to go around. I can tell you from experience this isn't going to be easy: but if we want to survive, we're going to have to help each other out.

Rationing's a good shout, and depending on how we're going to do this, [ a breath of a pause ], my aunt used to run a homeless shelter. [ still does, technically. ] I got pretty good at helping her whip up meals with pretty limited supplies.

—Or if you just need a guy that's proficient with a ladle.

That's a skill in and of itself. If you're willing to offer it up I won't say no.

We're all in this together, and even if we don't all need food, I feel pretty confident in saying that a warm meal is comforting; and I'm also going to go out on a limb and say that not everyone's going to get enough sleep, so—. [ a breath of a pause. ]

My thoughts exactly.

[ Whether they need to eat or not, stress could do a lot to a person. He's seen that first hand more times than anyone probably should. ]

[ It's a greeting, as much as Jim attempting to commit the name to memory. ]

Do you know the status of water supply around here?

[ there's a pause before peter replies, because there's water? that's been the status up until now? then— ]

If you're asking if the DEP reaches out here: that's a no...

I mean is it something we have to worry about running out of.

[webshoots]

[ jim they're surrounded by water. ]

Barring natural disaster? Or unnatural, actually, given—. [ given what? he doesn't clarify. beat. ] The river stretches out in a couple of directions and although it's not as disgusting as the East river— I'm speaking from personal experience, not just a guess.

If you're worried about potable water, I could knock together a filtration system to have as a back up in case something happens.

Look, I haven't been here long but I've already heard some horror stories.

Sure. It wouldn't be on a large scale, given the materials we have on demand, but it'd do the trick.

Uh, yeah. I — had some personal issues come up. [ some unexplained absences, an ill-advised revealing of his identity, his aunt getting shot, a deal with the devil and a foray into avoiding responsibility.
