Indulge my curiosity for a moment, would you?

( could you deny a face like his? could you? you couldn't. which is good because he's going to ask a somewhat morbid question. )

We're all, apparently, dead. But some of us have died again and been returned via the church. Some of us have disappeared or died and not been returned. Are they still here somewhere? Or have they been sent back to where they came from?

Those are hypothetical questions, by the way. Feel free to try and answer but I think it's going to be a lot of time that could be spent on something more fruitful.

My actual question: could the the way of dying a second time crucial to who stays and who goes? Or did those of us that have been lost end somewhere in this place that we've yet to find?

( he knows that it's not necessarily a fun thing to think about but he recalls the resurrection of his aunt hilda after her many deaths at the hands of his other aunt versus how harvey's brother had come back. two dead people returned to the land of the living but only one went on to live a relatively normal life.

ambrose knows that might be because hilda is a witch herself and tommy was a normal human. but his curiosity still stands. )

Do we need to institute the buddy system to make sure no one else wanders off and doesn't come back?

From what I've gathered, all it takes is someone's lantern going out here to cause a death. I hate that it is that easy.

I talked to someone recently who just slipped and fell and that was all it took. Knocked the lantern out and killed him. I'm going to encase my lantern in metal.

matt is quiet, literally all the time, and that includes his amusement. Ambrose does get a huff of a laugh, though. )

Probably for the best, all things considered. ( though, he pauses, thinking that through. ) I wonder if the fire still needs oxygen. Normal fire does, but this is far from normal.

A good question. I can tell you the physics or laws or what should work in a place don't work here. Magic that should produce light doesn't do that here. The only light we seem to be able to create is —

So, I'm guessing what we think of as normal will not work here. But that is just a guess.

Not to mention the bonfire that always burns and never burns out.

It's hard to predict how these fires work, but to be safe I'll still keep the rules I know in mind. No wind, no water, and no absence of oxygen. It'd be interesting to know if there are others, besides "don't die".

I suppose you could ask one of the people that seems to have been here a good amount of time. The lighthouse keeper was pretty nice.

I only know how to play hymns, I'm not sure that's the sing-along vibe you're hoping for.

I am probably one of the least religious people you will find so I can think outside the box a bit.

And sometimes you just need one or two things to make something dull and boring that much better. That's what I'm here for.

I'm about as Roman Catholic as a person can be, though I don't think that means I can't find the liturgy a bit on the stodgy side.

Maybe I should just learn to play something else, but that probably isn't a vital priority at the moment.

Hmm. Something more fun than classics, probably. Though I'll date myself if I say classic rock, it seems as if it'd be enjoyable to play.

Classic rock is timeless! They don't do it like they used to. I miss some of those songs.

It goes by classic for a reason, as far as I'm concerned. I'd much rather learn oldies than anything modern.

You are correct to stick with your classics. There is some terrible ear pollution out there right now.
