hey
so me and wash and gene were gonna go on an adventure in the woods
see what we can find, you know?
but we're looking for a couple of people to bring with us
maybe two or three
gene's a medic, wash is a marine, and i'm a wizard with experience dealing with monsters and nasty magic
anyone that thinks they could round that out would be great
but no serial killers or anyone that would like
murder us in our sleep
and sorry, but no kids yet
i know some of you are gonna argue that, but we have no idea what we're dealing with and we don't want that on our consciences
anyway, let us know

some of us have already GONE exploring

and if you all do turn into zombies or something i don't know how that's gonna help everybody that gets left behind

it has been six (6) days since his last cigarette. his nerves are shot, an' his patience is just about worn thin. least he manages a calm tone, even though his words are just the faintest bit clipped. )

That ain't how delegation works for plannin' combat missions. She's handlin' this aspect, an' frankly we didn't expect a hoard'a kids filin' in here to yell about a reasonable request. If you've got any vital or relevant information that you ain't felt the need to share with the rest of us, not knowin' that ain't hardly our fault.

kid i don't know if you picked up on the fact that we can die again, and we don't know what the cost of dying multiple times is

We ain't arguin' that some of them might. We all come from worlds where kids're conscripted to fight Hell an' gone younger than you. But this ain't about you, it's about us. Ain't a word of what she said merits you callin' her stupid.

just because you're an adult doesn't mean you know more about the woods than we do

so which is it? are you planning combat or are you planning exploration?

listen i'm really grateful that you helped me and you seemed like a nice guy. i know you're all saying no kids cause you're afraid.

but you guys are making a plan to go out there and keeping the rest of us from helping you. i can't help being a kid and i can't change that i'm gonna be this age forever. but you need to accept that too.

a real leader would ask for advice from everyone they could before setting out there, and they'd do it before shutting people out

it's not that. i'm sure some of you probably have really impressive powers or skills

it's that most of us have seen kids 1/2 and 1/3 our age get killed multiple times before, and we have more experience

and just because you're a kid doesn't mean you're entitled to jack shit

the woman's asking for skills and you and your clubhouse decide to toss your tantrums about it rather than say anything that's actually useful

I have found the warning never works. Children perish as soon as they enter the city of Asshai, it is simply the city's own way. There are warnings, there are witnesses, and still, near every time a ship lands in the port, one child sailor decides he is surely going to break the wheel.

Sometimes, this is simply how it goes.

it's not that i don't want it weighing on me
it's that one of those kids didn't have anywhere to go, so we took him in, and i got to see just how badly it fucked him up
i don't want anyone to have to go through that if they don't have to
and i wouldn't even be that against it if i knew for sure that we could kill whatever the fuck is out there
almost everyone i've talked to said their powers seem at least a little different, and healing spells aren't working the way they should
if i knew that whatever spirits or liches or monsters we were probably going to deal with were even killable, yeah, sure, whatever
but we don't

why should i?

she said "no kids" so it's pretty obvious she doesn't give a crap about what i have to say

not giving anyone much reason to change their mind either buddy

but you guys aren't responsible for keeping us safe. that's something we all have to do for ourselves. and we can't just stay here in this town forever while everybody else goes out and gets hurt for us.

i'm not expecting to change your mind. but people get hurt, even kids. it's gonna happen whether you guys are with us or not.

there's nothing left for me back home so whatever this place throws at me doesn't matter because i'm done

just because you've been around longer than us doesn't mean you can write us off as inexperienced
all the other kids that responded to this post have been through war
one that an adult started
we've all lost something and most of us have died more than once.
