[Hey guys, it's the familiar voice of Jason Grace. He sounds...tired, but not hopeless. In fact he sounds pretty motivated.]

I don't know if any of you remember this, but shortly after I arrived -- gods, almost a year ago now I think-- Rastus put together a memorial for those we had lost in an effort to get to the Lighthouse. Given the number of people reported as dead on the weekly bulletin, I think it might be time to do something similar. I know we may have a lot of other things to do in terms of ensuring our own survival, but it doesn't feel right to me to just let this go by without some kind of recognition, some time to mourn who and what we've lost...that's important too.

We don't have a way of making the glowing rocks like Rastus did, but I got pretty good at crafting the paper boats and the paper lanterns can't be that hard either.

[There's a long silence, Jason clears his throat.]

On a related note, like most of you, I’ve been working on cleaning up the debris left by the floods and I noticed that the Wall for the Remembered at Town Hall has been pretty badly damaged. Would it make sense to move the items that remain to the Church -- maybe get started on putting together a new one? The Church is still in one piece -- though I’m not sure if it has the wall space. The only other location I can think of that might be appropriate would be a wall at the school, since I don’t think it’s being used for much else.

[Something seems to click as he realizes these two things can be combined, he muses.]

It probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to combine the two -- release the boats and then collectively meet at the new Wall for the Remembered to deposit the old photographs with new memorial items as well.

We just need to figure out where that will be...I'm open to other suggestions of course. I'd like to get this done in the next few days, so just let me know, okay?

Yeah. Yeah, it's... I remember when Rastus did that. And I agree. We've lost too many at once. This is a good way to honor them.

The school is in good shape and it sounds like people might be moving other activities there now. It would have my vote. We could set up a whole room for the new wall, and the lanterns people have found, and whatever else we can recover.

I'll help in any way I can. Just let me know how.

I vote for the church. It's a sacred place and they deserve to be remembered on hallowed ground.

I think the school has more room -- but I can see where the church would be appealing to some...but I also know the church suffered some damage as well and I wouldn't want to have to move the memorial a third time if we can help it.

I'm going to wait and see what the consensus seems to be. Know if we have any paint left in the meantime?

I like the church for it too, since it has the candles and is already a place many visit. My main concern is that the building seems to have some damage that could be a problem in the future. But, we're rebuilding bridges, maybe we can repair the church as well.

We should fix the church no matter what, but it's going to take some work. Seems a pain to set up a memorial in there only to then take it down again so we can repair the building. That said, I'd be glad to help fix the place up.

Should be plenty of paint still, yeah. The murals in The Invincible didn't use up all of it. We'll just need to get more after as soon as we figure out how. Last time the ferry was disrupted, Robin was able to get Pluto to help send the new ferry. Maybe we ought to try and reach out to her and the others with the night market.

Agreed. Do you think there's some way we can recycle some of the materials from town hall or one of the other damaged sites to help with repairs or are we just stuck waiting to see if we'll ever see the ferry again?

Another advantage of the school is that it would be move-in ready and last time I was at the church it didn't look quite to that place yet.

Pluto had a tablet, right? Has anyone tried contacting her or the Night Market, yet? Usually we just waited for them to show up.

Don't see why we couldn't cannibalize some materials from buildings if we decide we don't want them. There's the village cabins, too, those are in worse shape. Or the hospital. Ask Stone, he can probably help ferry large loads over the river.

As for Pluto - I don't know. Yeah, she must have a way to contact us, she's done it before with that... I'm not sure what you call it. Like pictures, but they move, with sound. Maybe some device she has at the station, since the tablets can't do that. But, point is, I'm not sure how to get hold of her since she's normally not on the network. If you had to do that at home, get in touch with someone far away, how would you do it?

[Stone sounds thoughtful, here.]

My people sing when someone dies. We could do that, too. I don't where where you do the thing, but doing it seems like a nice idea.

I'll help with whatever heavy things you need moved, or ferried over rivers, though. Just point me where you want.

I got the records from the town hall, have been thinking about relocating them to the school. Might be a reason to bring the memorial wall there, since they used to be together in the other building but...just a thought.

It just seems like it would be easier to work with materials from buildings that are too far gone than to try and rebuild them from scratch. I'm sure the hospital wouldn't really be missed. I'll reach out to Stone if he doesn't see this post first.

[He thinks about the Pluto problem, he blurts out the answer without thinking.]

Iris Message -- but that wouldn't work here for several reasons. [Pause, thinking.] If we're ruling out the tablet as a possibility...I guess non-magic related ways would be, like a message in a bottle? We couldn't guarantee that would get to her though...this would be a lot easier if she wasn't under water. I wonder if there's a way to send some kind of signal under water -- like SONAR -- that's not something I'm really familiar with though.

Singing...that sounds like something that would work well with the lantern launch. I'm not a very good singer myself, but I like the idea.

The church repair is on my list -- I think we need to survey what materials are usable first. But, I could definitely use your help getting the pieces of the memorial that was left at Town Hall over to the school. I think we have more room and a secure location in that area without having to wait for repairs to the church.

I'm thinking the school is the the more secure option at the moment if we want to get started on this soon. The church is mostly in one piece -- but the fact that it's leaning like that worries me.

I could use help with set up, yeah. There's...quite a few to fold after all.

At home we'd use the snail phone network. Sort of like this voice function on the tablets, but without the same kind of limitations this seems to have. If she had a phone and I had her number, we could just call her. Same that doesn't really happen here. Message in a bottle though, I kind of like that. We could even make some sort of makeshift cannon or harpoon gun to fire it in her direction. I just wouldn't know where to aim it.

If things continue the way they have, we'll be doing regular repairs. Consider it an experiment in our ability to thrive.

You'll have to point out what the pieces are that are from the memorial. Or put them in a pile for me, maybe. Then I can fly it to the school, one or two trips should be plenty, unless you want me to carry the whole wall or something.

I'm rather new here, just off the last ferry. I don't have the same depth of loss as the rest of you must be feeling, and I'm... [ she takes a slow breath ] so, so deeply sorry for what everyone's going through.

Like Masaomi, I've folded paper lanterns, and paper boats as well. I'd be more than happy to assist. It's a shame that we can't light them with candles, but perhaps paper flames could be an alternative? Maybe that's silly of me. They won't cast light, of course. But the meaning, like the rest of this, might be nice.

[Jason resists the urge to smack his palm to his forehead. After all, they DID have stuff like that too -- but at the same time it's like Rosinante says: they'd need her number first.]

Yeah...we have stuff like that too, but if we don't have her phone number or the network we're definitely going to have to get creative.

That would at least get it closer to her direction -- even if we don't know exactly. I guess another option would be to just keep sending one out each day until she or someone down there responds?

Did anyone ever pay attention from which direction their subs came from for the market? Maybe we could start there at least.

I'll make a pile -- that way it's clear what needs to be moved. I wasn't planning on transporting the whole wall -- I think we can just move the significant pieces like mementos and pictures and stuff. I can repaint the tree on the new wall easily enough.

Dunno. I remember hearing some people got to visit the portal in a dream, though, and that's where the station is. Stone, he's one of them, that's why he tried to fly out over the lake. Must just be straight out the way he was going.
