[text] @dr; on making informed decisions [open]
[Hey everybody it's time for another long-winded infodump from your friendly neighborhood nerdass.]
We're probably getting to the point where I actually need to make introductions again, but I hate doing that, so here's the short version:
This is Dr. Will Ingram, I've been here longer than any of you, and most of the features on your tablet are because of me.
You may even notice a newer one, the application that allows you to make spreadsheets.
You're all welcome.
With that out of the way, here's what I actually wanted to talk about— I come bearing gifts.
No strings attached this time, these have already been paid for.
I said that I would share the results of my little offer about gathering information, and I'm keeping my word.
Minimus already posted his, so I'll be brief with it, but we are not, in fact, alone here.
Though I suspect that was referring to either the spirits or the Wild Hunt, so moving on to more important things. Things relevant to recent developments.
Where did the World Eaters come from? "An unnamed planetary body in DE-739112.9+183662 galaxy", apparently. While we don't know exactly where this is, obviously, it could be useful in the future.
Is there any known way to defeat them? "Not in this universe." Which only means there's no known way, not no way at all, but take that as you will when considering whether or not you want to join the Night Market.
Also take this into consideration: there are 5,291,507,280,265 inhabited planets in this universe. That isn't just me slamming my fingers on the number keys, that is indeed over five trillion, which is literally unimaginable.
So keep that in mind when you're choosing between letting this world die and trying to save it; we are quite far from the only world out here.
That said, I suspect you all already know my opinion, which is that telling us to lie down and die is ridiculous, and the universe does not have intentions. There is no "should", that's all anthropomorphizing nonsense.
Right and wrong are the inventions of people, and that's all.
Anyway.
My final present for you is a map.
The one who bought it is no longer with us, and it seemed foolish to just throw it away.
There's a location at the blue X that your group hasn't discovered yet, and considering its proximity to the medical center, I will not be attempting to rediscover it myself.
Enjoy.
[The map image is attached to the message for all to see.]

What was your question to the machine exactly?
no subject
( Straightforward. )
no subject
And the answer was yes.
Well, that's good information, but unfortunately the method for killing one isn't currently known.
Not in this universe, anyway.
no subject
@Grandmaster
The map is helpful though, thank you for that.
no subject
You should always question why someone isn't willing to do something themself, after all.
The map doesn't lead to anywhere incredibly exciting, but it's worth the exploration nonetheless.
no subject
If you know where it leads why do we need to explore it?
no subject
And it needs to be rediscovered because the spirits covered it back up during the reset.
no subject
no subject
But I didn't exactly get the chance to investigate it closely.
Could be something worthwhile still there.
no subject
I'm sure someone will take you up on it, location adjacent to the medical center notwithstanding.
Will you be attempting to have more questions asked when the Night Market returns?
no subject
We've just been given a deluge of information, and I need to properly sort through it first.

text @kingofwei
And here I thought you and I couldn't possibly discover even more in common...
no subject
Unless you're referring to something other than our unfortunate expedition.
no subject
And morality in general, it seems.
no subject
But I'm not quite sure you want to compare your morals to mine.
[Listen, he's not oblivious. He just also doesn't plan to change.]

no subject
But- Can I ask what you think the 'X' is on the map? It seems weird it's so close to the medical centre and other places, but we somehow missed it. Do you think it's disguised or something?
no subject
It's not so much disguised as not very tall or particularly attention-catching.
It's a cemetery.
no subject
Oh.
That's. A little upsetting to know. Is that Beacon's official cemetery or something else entirely? [ because- now that he thinks about it- it's kind of weird there was never any indication of a cemetery or graveyard in beacon. (that weird incident with the grave markers and their final moments aside.) ] If you wanna answer that I mean, Dr. Ingram.
@darkness
no subject
Actually that's a lie, I don't want to ask you kindly.
no subject
Isn't it obvious now that it doesn't matter where you are, they'll get you anyway?
Maybe you should have stayed in your hidey-hole. Or do you just like Robin more than the Wild Hunt?
very belated cw for vague suicide hint
What are you even talking about?
Of course I like Robin better, the Wild Hunt can do us all a favor and start their ridiculous plan with themselves.

no subject
What a powerful, clever insult.
What ever will I do?
You know most people are at least a little bit grateful that I decided not to abandon you all.
How far would you have gotten without me?
And what exactly do you contribute?
Glass houses and stones and all that, you know.
no subject
So? Is that why you chose to help us?
Because you'll "live" longer?
no subject
Probably because you don't contribute anything but pointless lines of conversation.
Are you really so bad with people that you just choose to make them all hate you instead?
Because it's working.
I don't believe that our only options are "die now" or "die later", and anyone who does is seriously lacking in creativity.
We're not "borrowing" time, time's just a concept.
This arrangement is mutually beneficial, but I'm not insulted by the idea that I wouldn't be here if it weren't.
Everyone's only looking out for themselves, and thinking otherwise is delusional.
no subject
What's the third option? Escape?
There are plenty of people that will happily throw their lives away for everyone else. I don't know how you wouldn't have noticed that, since you take advantage of them all the time.
no subject
seriously they're fucking aliens
( xfiles_theme.mp4 )
no subject
You know, I'm getting quite tired of all you people from Earth just assuming the rest of the universe revolves around you.
[But you're not alone re: all these words, Dean. Will just likes to hear himself... type???]
no subject
( he's joking! mostly. )
no subject
Privileged and smug about it.
It's a great look, really.
[He's not taking this personally you're taking this personally.]
no subject
( winky face )
anyway if u ain't from earth where are u from
no subject
[Will is the hipster of birthplaces, apparently.]
The point is, you'll find that a great deal of the people here aren't from Earth.
The fact that the World Eaters are "aliens" isn't remotely unusual.
Did you not see the number of inhabited planets in just this universe alone?
@cuttingedge; text
do we have any idea of what the blue mark is?
