Before you all go running off around town now that things are quieter:

The Tunnel of Love at the amusement park is the crocodile spirits' new territory. They were moved there as a compromise so you can all access the shopping center safely. Ride at your own risk.

Shopping center's still flooded. Burst pipe at the aquarium in some kind of camping supplies shop. Might want to bring some plumbing tools to fix it and drain the water, we didn't have anything on hand. Should be safe now though, just wet.

You moved them.

By force?

I'm not sure if the water has anywhere to drain, I'll have to look into that later.

But, if anyone wants to go fixing it, I can help keep the water at bay for maybe ten minutes. And keep us from drowning if we fuck it up badly enough to make it worse.

Can you vanish the water completely? With magic, I mean. Evaporate it, maybe. Banish it to another dimension or just displace it to the lake?

That's not my style, unfortunately. I got my powers from a water god, so what I do is control it. I can cause floods, part water or send it uphill, but it doesn't last long and I can't do it too often.
moderatelymaladjusted: (73)

[personal profile] moderatelymaladjusted 2020-04-01 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Could you push it all the way out of the shopping center? Like, a reverse flood?

[personal profile] fjorgedinfire 2020-04-02 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Not in a way where it won't just come flooding back in again. We might have to find a drain in there and see if we can't get rid of it the old fashioned way. Or break a hole in a wall.
paletteswap: (Finish this)

[personal profile] paletteswap 2020-04-02 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
I'm impressed.

I don't suppose anyone has tried simply asking the spirits to not try and kill us anymore? If only so simple.

But I digress. How bad is the flooding? Camping supplies might be useful.

What are these pipes made of?

I'd hazard a guess at copper, maybe, but I'm not sure. I'm not familiar enough with the metals this place used to use to make a good call.
sunsbreath: (pic#13823729)

[personal profile] sunsbreath 2020-04-03 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
As long as it's metal, it doesn't matter.

I need enough metal to repair the damage. Are the materials in the junkyard available for us to use?

[personal profile] fjorgedinfire 2020-04-03 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Already used to this place, huh? [He doesn't recognise the username. But then, he also doesn't use the network much...] Yeah, if you can get past the spirit guarding it. Seems like it's friendly enough, just... energetic.

[ It's a pretty typical question for a new person to ask, Ephrim supposes, and he doesn't mind pleasantries if he may not be in the mood for them. He's a slave to formality, okay. ]

I've settled long enough. What manner of creature is it? How do you placate it?

[That's rhetorical, mostly.]

Treats. Fetch. Conversation, if it's intelligent enough for that.

The shopping center is downtown, correct? Are there any obstacles, or am I free to walk in and do the repairs?

You mean besides the four feet of water covering the whole bottom floor? Nah, not now that the crocodiles are gone. I can show you where the crack is, if you like.
sunsbreath: (pic#13823754)

[personal profile] sunsbreath 2020-04-03 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Then I suppose I must ask if you're free to help with the water as well. When and where would you like to meet?

[ He's free for the foreseeable future, after all. Might as well let the stranger handle the time. ]

I can meet you downtown in about an hour if you like. I'm headed that way anyhow. Outside the Landmark, that big fancy ass inn.
sunsbreath: (pic#13823729)

[personal profile] sunsbreath 2020-04-03 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
An hour, then. Who am I looking for? [ Hm. Might be best to start with himself. ] You're looking for a man with a white sweater. Black hair.
fjorgedinfire: Official art by <user name=ornerine site=tumblr.com> (Default)

Breaking a wall might not be a bad idea.

You have water-magic, can you breathe under water? Swim down and find a drain?
fjorgedinfire: Official art by <user name=ornerine site=tumblr.com> (Default)

[personal profile] fjorgedinfire 2020-04-04 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Actually yeah, that's how I found the pipe in the first place. I didn't have much luck finding a drain - could be it's too dark, or that there isn't one. The pipe was supposed to be going into a giant fish tank, except that's broken now. I wouldn't imagine the place has drainage otherwise.
paletteswap: (At Ease)

[personal profile] paletteswap 2020-04-04 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
It would freeze solid and I could shatter it, but it would break anything that's caught in the water as well. So items on the floor might be destroyed. I'll go take a look and see if that's plausible, I might not be able to get to it.

Myself and water do not mix well.

you had to give up the one romantic spot in town?

[personal profile] fjorgedinfire 2020-04-06 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
River, yes. Lake, no. And I dislocated my shoulder and snapped my neck doing the first, so forgive me for not having a lot of faith in the other.

[Well, if no-one knew how he died in there before, they sure do now.]

paletteswap: (What's happening?)

[personal profile] paletteswap 2020-04-07 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
It'd be safer to drain it somehow. But we have to work with what we have which can lead to unorthodox plans.

Anything of interest at the rest of the shopping center? I have not been down there since we were at the hotel.
paletteswap: (Will do what is necessary)

[personal profile] paletteswap 2020-04-07 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
A stylus? That would be incredibly useful.

I should probably investigate beyond my patrol routes, I've become too mired in routine I think.
paletteswap: (Oh)

No one told you that the river would kill you? That's like all it does-- it kills people. Maybe someone should make a huge sign

The lake is different. Maybe.

[personal profile] fjorgedinfire 2020-04-09 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I was indeed informed of that, yes. Which is why I went with other people backing me up and coming in with me, to see if it was a spirit fucking with people or just something in the water. It's also how I discovered the rivers are probably well over a hundred feet deep and taste like shit. Like something died upstream.

[Happy now, asshole? He didn't just dive in there for kicks.]

So I assume that if you want to do something with the lake, you're gonna be there to back me up when you send me in there.

Yes?
