@cuttingedge; A swamp warning [OPEN AUDIO] late on March 12th

[It starts with Jo clearing her throat. Somehow even that sounds tired and dejected.]

I went with a group I trust, looking for Dr. Solis' lab. We headed toward the mountains past the scrapyard and found a swamp instead. [She pauses here, searching for words to explain the seriousness of the situation.]

I don't know how far out it is because we were gone for days but it didn't feel like that. [An edge creeps into her voice and she lets out an annoyed huff of air.]

Whoever you see in there, you can't save them. Two of the group tried, and they were ready for a fight right up until they just gave up and sank. We had a rope. We couldn't pull them out.

[There's a shaky sound, almost a stifled sob. Don't comment on it. She'll deny it. She doesn't know what made them stop, but she knows Castiel went in ready for a fight.]

If you had any business with Dean Winchester, you can talk to me until he's back. [There's a rustling of fabric as she moves to end the call, but pauses.]

Castiel too.

She helped get those two killed, even if that Dean guy had what was coming to him and Castiel was stupid enough to go along with it.

I'm going to give you a 10/10 for the execution on that dodge but for real: What do we do now after all this?

We know (for sure) that the swamp is dangerous. We know two people are dead due to its ability to influence somehow. What do you think we should do now?

Maybe there's a reason her lab is somewhere that can't be easily reached.

It would be nice if we could find the lab. At least have an idea if the lab is still around. There could be something in there that could help her out with Dr. Solis' project.

[ a pause. and though day knows he should know better: ] Are you helping out in that too? The project, I mean.

[ Vanitas narrows his eyes very suddenly at his tablet. ]

Leave the manipulation to those better suited, Daylight.

[ He would stop responding completely but he's still feeling hostile, so: ]

If you dumbasses want to see her lab, maybe you should ask her.

After all, you went so far out of your way to make sure she was readily available.

Oh my gosh, Vanitas! That's a great idea!! With Dr. Solis around, we can ask her for information regarding the layout of Beacon and what to possibly expect from the area. We don't need to go wandering around anymore, just hoping to find something now! At least, not a lot!!

[ How is this guy still living, that's the real question. Vanitas is so flabbergasted by how he apparently never thought of this that he literally stares for a full half minute. ]

I don't want to catch whatever infliction you have that's made you this kind of imbecile.

[ may this give poor vanitas more motivation to find more and more places. just so he has more and more hiding spots to get away from the relentless force known as day. ]
