I had just mentioned to someone how after being here for so long the forest still didn't truly feel like a forest without the sound of birds.
It seems the forest spirits heard me.
I know they aren't truly the birds from home, but there is something nice about having that little bit of normalcy back.
So far they aren't dangerous or aggressive. I hope it remains that way.

@imadeyoureadthis
i hope they aren't, anyway. we don't need a supernatural remake of The Birds.

I wonder where they were previously, or if they'll keep manifesting the longer we're here. There weren't any insects when I first arrived either, and eventually they showed up.

[ What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen spirit swallow? ]
probably not. but it'd be kinda funny if they went somewhere it's day all the time instead. maybe eventually we'll get all sorts of spirit critters and the birds and the insects are just the early... well, birds.

We're all going to feel a little foolish if twenty kilometers from here the darkness ends and everything is sunshine and normal, we just didn't walk far enough.

possibly justified in that the walk tries to kill us. but since i'm pale, the sun already tried to kill me. nothing new there. maybe we should try talking to the birds about their travel plans.

And something heats it, we have seasons here. It was unbearably hot a year ago.
[It was a normal amount of hot, he just needs to be kept in a blast freezer at all times.]

[ Not that she'd care, but Ellever would at least know it. ]
so it was super hot AND dark? bet that's weird. can't wait.
[ Ellever isn't fond of heat, either. ]

Hot and humid and dark with no breeze. It was miserable.

Do not forget the cycle of strange occurrences that seem designed to either kill us or test our sanity.
I am hoping the return of all these birds isn't the herald for something like that. Or worse somehow.
