I had just mentioned to someone how after being here for so long the forest still didn't truly feel like a forest without the sound of birds.
It seems the forest spirits heard me.
I know they aren't truly the birds from home, but there is something nice about having that little bit of normalcy back.
So far they aren't dangerous or aggressive. I hope it remains that way.

Maybe to them it is? They may not perceive the darkness as we do. They seem to navigate it fine without the aid of any extraneous lighting.

I hope we're not here long enough to adapt in that way. That would likely take years.

more like generations, i'm pretty sure that's how evolution works. and we're all dead, so nix that plan anyway.

It may spontaneously happen one day. Like when people were turning into animals, or having fits of strange emotions. One day everyone has giant eyes and can see clearer in the moonlight.
