[ and he will be waiting, a figure illuminated by blue light from his lantern. dick holds it aloft but close to him. guarded. wary. ]

[He actually blended in quite well with the darkness being clad all in black. His lantern was being carried by another more shadow-y figure. Both himself and the other figure shared the same pure-white eyes with the rest of their facial features covered by masks.]

What do you hope to find on the other side?

[He barely gave Dick a second glance as he walked towards the river's edge.

The shadow clone holding the lantern? He totally kept his eyes on Dick the entire time.]

[ he takes in both figures without comment. although creepy, they don't register as an immediate threat.

he looks back at the shadow holding the lantern. must be useful to have him around. but he keeps his attention on the one beside him. ]

I've been over. There's a village. Empty so far, but there's a library.

[He finally turns his attention to Dick, but only for a moment ... just kind of giving him a look over.

Turning back to the water, two purple-ish ovals appeared -- one in front of where he was standing and the other across the river. He didn't say anything more and just stepped through the portal, the shadow clone gestured that Dick should follow before it also stepped through.

Noob Saibot and the Shadow clone reappeared through the portal on the other side. He was actually doing this a bit more civil than he did his own brother who got a portal placed under his feet and then dropped out of the sky.]

[ he has been trained in how not to appear threatening. dick does not like to loom as his father and mentor does. but he holds himself firmly. walking the line between authoritative and easygoing. he is now a cop. it's a different requirement from socializing.

dick watches the portal curiously. it's unlikely that he was brought here to be disposed of. if there are side effects on his human body, they will find out.

he is not afraid of pain. and he knows what a leap of faith is.

dick steps through the portal. he emerges, blinking. ]

How often can you do this? [ just curious. ]

[Fortunately there was no pain or even really discomfort -- maybe something akin of brushing against a cold mist, but that'd be all. As soon as he steps through it dissipates.

At the question he slightly turns his head to glance back at Dick.]

As often as necessary.

[Unfortunately he was a person of view words a lot of times. Turning away from Dick he looks out into the woods. As a precaution he reaches directly into his own chest and pulls out a sickle through what looks like a smaller version of the portal they both stepped through.]

[ he can suppress the shiver. he emerges unscathed. perhaps there are future effects from continuous use. there are so many unknowns here. ]

It might be necessary. [ it's good to be prepared ahead of time if they have to call on this ability.

and when the guy pulls a whole weapon from his chest, dick doesn't blink at it. not the weirdest thing about him. what else has he got in those portals? ]

No more than walking would be to someone like you.

[It really isn't the weirdest thing about him, he used to have ice powers before the whole shadow thing.

He shoots a single glance back at Dick.]

Can you fight?

[ he nods. ]

Yes. [ he can fight. if it's beyond his ability to survive, he will find a way. he was taught to.

he is also just that bitch. ]

I'm prepared to.

Good.

[Because he doesn't protect others and would fully leave Dick to die a horrible death.]

Which way to the village?

This way. I can lead. [ he is aware of his companion beside him. dick does not show his back. not completely. he is not going to be so easily disarmed.

but he is also curious. which is why they won't walk in silence. ]

So where are you from, originally?

In life? Earthrealm. If you mean specifically -- China. But in death I resided in the Netherrealm.

[The shadow follows behind both of them, but mostly to Noob's side and not near Dick.]

Which is much different than this place. Not as dark, but possibly more dangerous.
