[newspaper] WEEKLY BULLETIN [open]

WEEKLY BULLETIN

announcements

  • Weather: Pleasantly mild, with highs of near 80 F/26 C and lots of stars. Look out for the waxing crescent moon on the horizon! For those of you sleeping outside, now's the time to get started on any new projects; the light will only get brighter over the coming month.

  • The trapdoor has seen an awful lot of action this week! Certain people, and we won't name names, but certain people have been trying to teleport around it, smash it down, pry it open, and so on. And yet still it's taken ages for it to get open. A whole week! A whole week to get a tiny door open, but you did it, so well done.

  • Do you know what's beneath it?

    A metal hatch.

But never fear, the whole thing wasn't pointless: there was a particular light that appeared outside the window. I wonder what that was about? It headed to the woods (although that isn't hard, it's not as if there's a lack of those around here).

  • A river was discovered. It's too wide to leap across, but maybe there's another way . . .

  • There's also an odd fence up north, one that doesn't seem to want to be crossed.

  • The post office is now open for business! Drop your letters to one another (or your missed connection ads) off here! Make it festive! Make it exciting! Make a lot of drama as you send anonymous love confessions! You might even get a package of your own: M.K. certainly did.

Yeah, it could be — don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it should be ignored (at all - we need to find them if there's even a chance they need help). I'm not even saying it's got to be one or the other, just that it's probably not quite that simple.

(But... you've heard that saying about not trusting everything you read, right?)

( propaganda is rife in his time, but he ain't really spent all that much time thinking about it, truth be told. )

I agree caution is likely warranted one way or another, but even if it is some manner of trap, I don't know I'd feel right taking more than is due.

( it ain't about bein' optimistic. gene's always believed that folk should be trusted first, an' if they do somethin' to negate that trust that's on them for the doin' an' not him for the believin'. )

Taking more ... food? Because threat, trap, or something in between, I think most people would agree that no-one deserves to starve.

Which basically means we're on the same page.

[ on the flip side, peter: expect the worst, hope for the best. ]

( this is why he hates text. besides the obvious fact that laborin' over each of these messages with the text-to-speech app is a slog. )

More caution, I meant. More caution than is due.

Oh, right. That makes way more sense.

Not really sure how we figure out the correct amount of caution though.
There, like, an equation for it?
(Presumed risk x impulsiveness) x number of participants = ?

( you

you lost him, peter.

he dropped out when he was eleven. his grasp of math is perilous at best. )

Go armed and in numbers sufficient to deal with a possible threat would be my suggestion.

( honestly, 'paratroopers' would be his suggestion, but. that's a bias. )

Easier said than done when we don't know what the threat is.

--And if it's not a threat and we go in armed...

[ BAD IDEA. ]
