Hello there, everyone, this is Aziraphale. With the advent of the Songbird on our devices, I was hoping to ask you all a favor. Or, well, it's more like a proposal, really. If people with musical talents could volunteer their time, we could record some songs with our devices and publish them for public listening on the why-fye.

I was also wondering if anyone here was familiar with the work of someone called Freddie Mercury, or perhaps one of the Velvet Undergrounds? They are performers from Earth, somewhere in the latter half of the 20th century or early 21st century. I would like to make a personal request that we could make some of their music available post-haste!

I admit that I have very little to offer in this project, myself. However, if anyone is interested in book passage recitations, I would be delighted to take requests, provided I'm familiar with the material!

[ Additional note: Aziraphale has intended to filter this message to everyone except for Crowley to be able to see it, but he has messed up and just made it open. ]

Dear Aziraphale,

Noted. :-) I’m going to start thinking of basic pieces to teach you, anyway.

And I’m very close to the town center, if that's what it is! Were you thinking of meeting today?

Best,
C.K.

I feel as if you are either unsure of what others have requested or if you are deliberately hiding the details.

If they have caused you harm, I will not have you face consequences.

Please. What happened to the good old days, anyway? Without any of that shorthand stuff, or the big complicated machines.

[ Wait-- oh my god. She's turning into Joel's parents. ]

That's good to hear.

[He has 1 future fan.]

If you want to hear me practice, I'll be in the rec center each day.

Really don't think I could manage the vocals of Freddie Mercury, but I'm familiar with the music. I could probably manage the piano accompaniment.

I see that this will not be easy mission.

[It never is. There's so much work to do.]

These "tolls" that the merchants request do not improve my impression of them.
uplifters: (it will lead me to you)

we can inbox this if you like?? :O

Dear Aziraphale,

Absolutely! :-D

I'll mosey on over to the bonfire now. I'll be the man wearing a shirt with a giant cheeseburger on it.

Best,
C.K.

It's shorthand. I will be put into the cold ground before I resort to shorthand.

[ The emphasis is real. ]

What books? Anna Karenina?

Wait, how do you know about Freddie Mercury? [Jo is laughing as she asks, because she's seen and heard enough about him to think he wouldn't even know Mercury.

And Velvet Underground? Amazing.]

I have a degree in Russian Literature. [ Mostly it was to catch a husband, but she did enjoy it, dammit. ] It's not going to prove very useful here, and it sure as hell didn't back home, but it's still nice to hear.

Do you memorize all the greats? I can barely remember what I had for breakfast yesterday.
knifecollecting: (I know you better than this)

Oh. [Crowley. Jo's voice immediately sounds less interested. Sorry, Aziraphale. She doesn't like your Crowley.]

I can't really help, I just know the easy parts of Bohemian Rhapsody. [But who doesn't?]

I play all right for someone who can't read music. The nuns were pretty insistent on all of us learning to play, even me.

( even if the task had been a lot more frustrating for a blind kid... their heart had been in the right place, though, and when it is all said and done, he likes having the skill. )

I can sing hymns fine. Bohemian Rhapsody? Hmm. ( he's not even being modest here, Freddie Mercury was just too much of an enigma for him to replicate. )
