AUDIO. @VEGEMIGHT; OPEN.

( Hello there, darkness dwellers. Is this a new voice you here? It sure is, lucky you. The accent is Australian, broad almost to the point of cliche, and there's something oddly lackadaisical about it, given the... well. The everything, really. )

So, not being funny, but has anyone, I dunno... fallen off the ferry and gotten a bit cuddly with some mysterious glowy, kinda ethereal-seeming tentacles?

Asking for a friend.

I hear tentacles are more of a Tuesday affair, but answering for a friend: are we talking cephalopod or more, I don't know, jellyfish? Because I hear cephalopod hugs come pretty highly ranked in terms of things to avoid.

But your friend missed that memo, right? [ beat. ] I'll be honest, I don't really have much of an immediate response beyond yeesh and a rather belated: try not to go near the water. The river skips the cuddly stage entirely.

Is that friend you?

( because that sounds very specific. )

Was the cuddling good cuddling at least?

Are you some sort of mermaid or just a very skilled scuba diver?

( because why would you stay in the water for that long? )

Anecdotally speaking, those are the warnings you should almost always be listening to.

I don't have the curves for a bikini, but I'm definitely not someone to judge anyone else's sartorial desires — but water-based activities? Yeah, there's a little bit of judging, and this is coming from someone who's ended up in the East River an embarrassing amount of times for someone that hates swimming.

I am not sure 100%

But I think there was a person that jumped into the lake when my group arrived.

Perhaps. Perhaps they were just curious.

Either way, there was panic around the docks so I suspect that nothing good came off of it.

I told everyone there was a bloody lake monster!

Unfortunately, I am not. But I have been reading about it in the Library books.

Nothing about panic in the disco band, I'm afraid

[If he knew it was a pun, he'd embrace it because puns are his jam]

No, it is not. Just like the forest, the lake is dead so creatures that live there adapted to it. If they are creatures. It is useless to fish- I actually strongly advise against it. One of the people I know fished out his own dead body. It could've been a prank from creatures in the water, as the said body turned into foam, but it was quite unsettling to see.

What made you fall off the ferry?

( because that was either a big wave or a big klutzy move. )
reigniter: ([ you do ])

[It's actually starting to look like hell recently, yes]

I don't know how Forest Spirits survive
But if they are similar to us, they don't have to eat
There aren't many plants in the forest, aside from thorns and weed. There were a few weeks where we could hear cicadas but we didn't hear them. Also, flowers bloomed but died fast and the entire town smelled like a graveyard.
If there is anything living in the lake, I do not know what sustains it.
