[text] @keeper; EVENT POST: LIGHT UP THE NIGHT [open]
Hi everyone!! I've got some exciting news!!!! O:
Oh, wait, hold on - a couple weeks ago Peter pointed out that you guys like super don't know what I look like or anything since I'm not around town. Whoops! I forgot! I'm sorry! So, like, here's a little selfie to dispel the ~mystery~...
[She attaches a picture!]
That's meeee. :) Super cute, right? But OK!!! Moving onto the fun stuff.
You should all head down to the beach like right away! I got some reeeeeeally neat stuff off the ferry this month to put on a little show for you guys... You might be able to see it a little bit from town, but your best bet is gonna be the beach! Keep your eye on the lighthouse!
And then after that, I have a cool event planned for you guys! I was thinking, like, the bonfire is still pretty contained in one spot, right? Rastus was telling me there's only a handful of torches around town, and I get that? I get that you want to like conserve this resource and all, super glad you're taking it real seriously, but like! It's meant to be USED, you know? Don't be that guy that hoards a buncha potions in Pokemon because "oh no what if I need all 99x of them one day!!!" but like, you're already fighting the Elite Four, you know?
My point is, Rastus is gonna be handing out torches like frickin' candy over the next couple days! You can take as many as you want, BUT you gotta make sure to place them around town to light this place the heck up! Put 'em in buildings or your houses or like, hell, you can light up paths and stuff to make traveling around easier! Put some on the beach to help with the dock you guys are building! IDK just put 'em in places! Use! The! Resource!
Sound good? Great! Come check out my little show down on the beach 'cos it's starting super soon! And then go DECORATE~ :) And be nice to Rastus since, like, between you and me? Talking him into a bonfire free-for-all was NOT easy. I owe him like a billion favors. You're welcome! Byeee!

@purrsona
What happens when we run out of torches?

Well, good news and bad news? Bad news - the bonfire is a limited supply. There SHOULD be more of it scattered out in the woods, like in places you guys haven't discovered yet, but MOST of the bonfire is already in town. So, like, it's a finite resource.
BUT the good news is that the bonfire is pretty stinkin' big! And it's not like you can't move torches around and stuff later if you change your minds. The only time you reeeeeally gotta be careful with it is when you take torches out on explorations, since like, if something happens while you're out there and you have to leave the torch behind? Someone's gotta go get it back before we can return it to the bonfire. That stuff doesn't happen automatically.

Robin-san. You like it?
[OKAY, BUT BUSINESS FIRST]
How did the other pieces of the bonfire get out there in the first place? Or can that be attributed to the. . . ah. Other groups before us?

You know, I'm actually not 100% sure? When a reset happens, the forest spirits put the town back together, so they're the ones that move all the bonfire pieces around... Which means they're just used to setting it up that way.
Not sure what THAT means, though.

If they're "used to setting things up that way," it almost sounds like it's the default. Like when you reset a video game.
no subject
You're right on track! That's how I look at it, anyway. A video game. It makes enough sense, doesn't it?

[THE REST WAS SO UNNECESSARY]
It makes a lot of sense, except for the part where we're all actual people and not video game characters.

Yeeeeeah, it's really strange to me, too. I know magic and war and crazy tech are common things to some of the people around here, but like, not me!?
Anyway, the difference between this and a video game is that this place has rules and stuff! The resets don't just magically happen because I flip a switch. There's a whole process. Mostly, the forest spirits just... put the town back to how it's "supposed" to be, or whatever.

[he should've come up with something cooler sounding. oh well]
I wonder what dictates how the town is "supposed" to be? That's more of a rhetorical question than anything I expect you to have answers for.

All I know is that it has something to do with the instructions I give them when I start a reset. They're, like, prewritten. I don't know what they mean, and we've never been able to really translate them.

. . . or whatever language we're all speaking.

I think being dead just like auto runs everything through Google Translate or something. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Buuuuuut, yeah, the World Eater language is WICKED impossible to understand. It doesn't even sound like language to me.
no subject
If every other language gets translated, I wonder why the World Eater one doesn't?
no subject
Wow I've never actually thought of that before?? Jeez Night Baron, talk about a galaxy brain take.
It doesn't translate the forest spirit language automatically, either... That's weird?
