[Someone had been around the docks when...all of that happened, broken an arm, and spent the following days snugly shut up tight in her house. Not a weakness she wants on display, of course, but she's angry, and having been in no useful condition for supply-regathering isn't much of a boon to her pride. But a handful of days shut up are little better.]

Couple things, just, quick.

Couldn't stick around the ferry and people's chief concern seems to have been food, which is fine, but I'm wondering if anyone got gardening supplies, and if those made it? I've mentioned it in passing to a handful, but especially given the exact worry I had was just proven right, no excuse to not be proactive anymore. We have good gardening types here, and it's better for the town as a whole if we can set a couple plots up...immediately? Fast as possible. A couple of small greenhouses are kind of a must at this point too. I'm not really up to building and clearing condition right now, so anybody brave enough to turn soil and move rocks and handle basic construction, drop me a line. People I talked to before, uh, the same I guess? We can divvy up who goes where, five people per square foot's a bad spread of resources.

Second thing - I'm getting the impression nobody's liking those flowers very much. [She's...largely unperturbed. Distressingly accustomed, at this point. Were the month not getting off on such a broken foot she'd be amused.] If it's crippling and you're desperate for something, stop by and I can give you a little cone to breathe through. Plague doctor-style, but tiny. Cute. [Deadpan:] You'll look like little birds, and it'll smell like pine.

[And lo, Molly appears, even grander in person, dressed in the finest of overblown robes, heavily pierced, tattooed, and baubled and very much lavender.]

I'm Molly, by the way. [He says as he approaches, pausing as soon as he reaches her to indulge a flamboyant bow.] Didn't quite get that far in the introduction.

[Oh no. He's splendid, and an instant liking is taken. One cannot receive a gift and a full bow together, so she merely nods and presents his faux-beak.]

Misty, very intrigued to meet you. Tell me you came here with those clothes, if that was somehow one set at the store and I missed it I'll be heartbroken.

Unfortunately, I put these all together myself and died fabulously in them. [He gives a little spin and kisses his fingertips.] You have exquisite taste.

Better for me, not having to be angry at missing out on anything myself. Store's fine, but not...much. [Understandably, but it's still a touch discouraging.]

Exquisite taste that also extends to our very, very limited pool of ice cream. Not having had it before might give you an edge, actually. I can't touch half of the stuff. Chocolate to beet is just an impossible transition.

I've worked with a limited pool of everything, so a treat is a treat. [And rather than go for the pear, which seems like a safer alternative, he selects the beet option. He's gonna try every flavor at least once, but since she mentioned it and he's more familiar with beets...

Well. It's a flavor, all right. He wrinkles his nose as he licks it- after realizing he can't bite it, mercifully before he actually tried.] It's an... experience, I'll say.

[Dangerously close to laughing outright, Misty merely grins, relentlessly. It's the harmless sort of suffering that feels guiltless to find a little amusement in, though her nod isn't without apparent sympathy.]

If by some slim chance we figure out a way to keep food and requests coming through without the ferry, I'll see about something to make...different flavors. Vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry are the basic ones. No guaranteeing to your taste, but...

[A vague gesture that somehow concisely means 'it won't be beet'.]

Strawberry? [Molly's pointed ears almost seem to perk up, and he looks almost like a child being promised something delicious. He's still indulging the fascinating texture of the ice cream even if there's no accounting for the taste of it.] Now that's a flavor to get excited for. Does it have actual strawberries in it?

[Mostly because he's pretty sure this thing has actual chunks of beets in it. They keep interrupting the cream parts of the ice cream.]

Some do? Usually it's just the flavor, but you've got at least thirty percent odds of getting the actual fruit. [And, because she has nothing but time to kill and cannot resist the charm of expressive ears:] It's not hard to make, really. Store's probably got strawberries, and the rest is staple items the store's definitely got. Could make a pint happen if you're as disappointed in beet as I was.

[Solid red eyes shouldn't be able to light up like that, because there's nothing to them but bloody voids, but still between the happy movement of his tail and the way he bounces on the balls of his feet just makes him even more childlike and full of wonder.]

I'm a fair hand at cooking when I've got to be. I'd be more than happy to learn from an expert. Might be useful to know down the line when I've got to make life less disappointing for someone else.

[It's undeniably charming on its own, and as she has a soft spot for honest enthusiasm, this is about as good an impression as anyone could hope to leave. All of this is met with an actually-sincere smile.]

Ice cream's a solid start on comfort food! Living someplace with a full kitchen, or am I demonstrating in mine?

I'm staying at the Invincible. A full kitchen's not really necessary when there's a pub underneath it.

[So yes, her kitchen is best.]

Are they actual meals, there?

[She doesn't frequent pubs, but can't imagine the dining is impressive or healthy.]

I mean...we're already out, could stop at the store and try today, or whenever you're free. [She's got her pear fix, the rest of the day could go any way it had to.]

There's food. That's all I can say.

[It's delicious pub food and he loves it, even if it's probably the worst for him. He does a lot of cardio. It's cool.]

And, as luck would have it, my afternoon is still free. That's what happens when you never plan for anything.

People need separate meals! All food groups!

[It's fairly gentle as shock goes. Such an odd thing to willingly deny oneself - you can have delicious food that's also varied and not terrible for you! Half the people in town don't even eat! She hates it! These exclamations are punctuated neatly by the first steps onward; to the store, then.]

It'll be a lot of afternoon, mind you - and it'll have to freeze--

Not a problem. I'm patient, and this is a new experience. [He wheezes a laugh as he follows like a lavender puppy.] Which I didn't think I'd get any more of after I died. I'm delighted by it, mind you, but it's still really weird.

Are you surprised at there being-- [a vague wave around them] --anything going on after dying, or is that just bragging about a life better lived than most? If it's the latter I'm expecting stories. Talking's half the point of cooking.

It's actually both. [He skips ahead, pivots, and begins walking backwards with a surprising amount of grace and dexterity, like a tightrope walker.] I am full of stories.

[Less than half are true.]

Are there genres to choose from?

[Determined as she is to retain some degree of aloofness, this is, admittedly, charming as all hell. He's won, she's intrigued and entertained.]

Oh, absolutely. Some run the gamut across multiple genres. Being a traveler and a circus person'll do that.

[His carnie side is certainly showing as he gracefully continues to walk backwards with his arms behind his back.]

Pick one of the most fanciful ones, across the board. I could sit through a lot, and I don't think a circus person could disappoint.

What were you, in it?

I was an intermediary, mostly. Never could nail down an act. I hate being pigeonholed. [He shrugs, nonchalantly.] But I did read fortunes.

[shadowsran]

[She emits something between a laugh and a snort, but there's not an ounce of condemnation to be found.] Fortunes here must not be the sort of thing anyone would pay to hear, huh?

[mollymocked]

Nope. Everyone thinks that since we're already dead, there's no fortunes to be had. [He rolls his eyes.] No imagination. No sense of adventure. Tragic, really.

So if I asked for a read fortune, what would you tell me? What's your process?

[She's amused, clearly, but the question is sincere. It's at the very least likely a fun parlor trick, and she isn't one to deny someone a chance to indulge a talent. Hobby. Whichever is most apt, depending on how scummy his circus of origin was.]

[Molly reaches into his pocket and produces his Tarot cards.] These are my process. Normally I ask for coin, but we're a bit short on it here. I'm still working on what to take for currency, but until then, I suppose I'd have to give it to you on the house.

[He grins, slyly.]
