[Someone had been around the docks when...all of that happened, broken an arm, and spent the following days snugly shut up tight in her house. Not a weakness she wants on display, of course, but she's angry, and having been in no useful condition for supply-regathering isn't much of a boon to her pride. But a handful of days shut up are little better.]

Couple things, just, quick.

Couldn't stick around the ferry and people's chief concern seems to have been food, which is fine, but I'm wondering if anyone got gardening supplies, and if those made it? I've mentioned it in passing to a handful, but especially given the exact worry I had was just proven right, no excuse to not be proactive anymore. We have good gardening types here, and it's better for the town as a whole if we can set a couple plots up...immediately? Fast as possible. A couple of small greenhouses are kind of a must at this point too. I'm not really up to building and clearing condition right now, so anybody brave enough to turn soil and move rocks and handle basic construction, drop me a line. People I talked to before, uh, the same I guess? We can divvy up who goes where, five people per square foot's a bad spread of resources.

Second thing - I'm getting the impression nobody's liking those flowers very much. [She's...largely unperturbed. Distressingly accustomed, at this point. Were the month not getting off on such a broken foot she'd be amused.] If it's crippling and you're desperate for something, stop by and I can give you a little cone to breathe through. Plague doctor-style, but tiny. Cute. [Deadpan:] You'll look like little birds, and it'll smell like pine.

Swamps have me pretty good at salvaging something that's too wet to be saved - I wouldn't mind taking a look even if you don't think they'd make it. [Lazy allusions to mask 'magic can probably fix it': regrettable, clumsy, but workable.]

[ He makes eyebrows even though she can't see, but clearly he is trying even though his whole situation is an open secret at this point. ]

Any amount of time you think it'll take for a verdict? We're probably due a frost soon, I want them to get as much time in as they can before then--

Well, I'll bring them over and you can plant them! I doubt they'll be good... but it's worth a try.

[ He hands her the seeds, and separately a little paper bag full of good ones he'd collected while eating. ]

Getting ducks in a row right now - glass was my big worry and it seems taken care of, so just waiting on Crowley to draw something up. He seemed committed to at least one or two being pretty.

How have you been? Intense month.

Oh, I'm-- I'm holding through. Worried, mainly.

[ And naturally Crowley's drinking too much and the town might come after them with pitchforks so-- well, he's just glad that he's been doing something productive. ]

My healing isn't what it used to be and so... I don't know if my growing will be much good, either.

I don't think anything is really going to happen to you. [She absolutely means the trio rather than just himself. It's not difficult to figure he's not approaching it from a particularly self-centered place.]

On a bright note, I think there's enough talented people here that even if they're all at ten percent, there's enough that it should scrape by.

And I was wondering about that 'soy beans in pots' thing, if you ever have a minute to write some of that down-? [A polite half-ask to keep chatting because she worries about you tired angel friend.]

[ Oh, Misty. He understands what she's trying to do and he really appreciates it, actually. He needs a friend like her sometimes, and now is a good time for that if he's quite honest. ]

[Cue the usher. Sulk has largely been had, and it's time to tend what bridges can be tended - his is an unenviable position.]

[ Oh fine, he'll allow himself to be ushered in and taken care of, but only because she was his friend before all of this. ]

[Brunt of the knee-jerk emotional reaction having passed, she is very, very pleased to be checking up on her people. He seems...stressed. Understandably, but more than she might feel necessary. He is ushered and ushered quickly, tea being made for indoor consumption; they're reaching a level of chill that leaves the porch a dicey bet.]

And we'll need all of it, in as much detail as possible. Copies, even, but I can fuss with that later. Crackers?

Oh, no, thank you. I... haven't been feeling hungry lately.

[ Which is a lie, but he knows that there isn't enough food to go around this month. Sorry Misty, you've got quite the sad sack on your hands. ]

[Watch her set crackers out anyway. They're fanned out over the plate. She's reaching for cheese, even. Relentless.]

We should. Or even...I don't know, maybe that's something to pester Will about. An app that can scan a picture of a page and pluck all the words off.

Maybe you can suggest it, I don't think he'll take my calls.

[ Also he has no idea what an app is. They keep saying this word, he kind of just treats it like a word he doesn't know learning a new language. ]

[ Also, it's kind of embarrassing in general. He'll gladly take the paper, and start writing things there in crisp, neat handwriting. ]

Try not to give him too long - doesn't do anybody good to have room to dwell, and the sooner people remember there are bigger concerns the better.

Of course, absolutely. I don't have any clue what you do to anything that turns it into tofu either, mind--

Oh, yes! It's quite like making cheese, actually. You take your milk-- or, soy milk, in this case, and you put in a little agitator, like lemon juice. Then stir it around until you get curds, and take the curds and press them into blocks. It can be made with rice or other sorts of beans, but soy, I think, yields a more... familiar taste.
