Indulge my curiosity for a moment, would you?

We're all, apparently, dead. But some of us have died again and been returned via the church. Some of us have disappeared or died and not been returned. Are they still here somewhere? Or have they been sent back to where they came from?

Those are hypothetical questions, by the way. Feel free to try and answer but I think it's going to be a lot of time that could be spent on something more fruitful.

My actual question: could the the way of dying a second time crucial to who stays and who goes? Or did those of us that have been lost end somewhere in this place that we've yet to find?

( he knows that it's not necessarily a fun thing to think about but he recalls the resurrection of his aunt hilda after her many deaths at the hands of his other aunt versus how harvey's brother had come back. two dead people returned to the land of the living but only one went on to live a relatively normal life.

ambrose knows that might be because hilda is a witch herself and tommy was a normal human. but his curiosity still stands. )

Do we need to institute the buddy system to make sure no one else wanders off and doesn't come back?

Because, quite frankly, being alone is fucking awful and I don't recommend it, and if you die here and no one's around to do anything about it, that's just awful. We're better off sticking together.

I'm from the circus, friend. People in large groups always end up being arseholes of one kind or another. Even the nice ones. And given we're all dead and a bit stressed out, panic and being grouped together makes people hinky.

It's up to the sensible ones to keep everyone from offing or betraying each other.

I don't think I've ever had the honor of visiting the circus. All I know of it is what I've heard from others and seen on television. I know there are large animals and clowns, which I would rather not see ever again, and people who do a lot of flips high in the air.

We didn't really have large animals- well, no. We had person who looked like one, but that ended badly. Best to not go into that. [He clears his throat.]

I was a bit of an intermediary. Never nailed down an act, though I could do a few sword tricks and the like. I mostly read fortunes.

Fortune, hm? Were you actually reading people's fortunes or were you making things up that you thought they'd want to hear?

Normally you'd have to spare a couple of coppers, but since I don't actually know what the currency here is right now and I'm feeling a bit generous, you might be in luck.

No I don't have to read your palm. That's ridiculous. And, you know, I've never actually tried it with someone, ah... Over a distance. This is all new to me. Suppose it wouldn't hurt to try.

[See how well he can cold read when he's not physically in the same room as a person. That's an intriguing challenge.]

No, nowhere weird. Unless you count the docks as weird. Though now that you mention it... Maybe I should hole up in some creepy cave and turn cards for people. See how many are willing to actually go in for that kind of ambiance.

How would you make people aware of where you are? Not many people are just going to come wandering by.

Do you think you'd get a lot of takers?

Think people are that hard up for something fun to do?

No idea! That's half the fun for me. I'd consider it a learning experience about what sorts of people we're dealing with here. Anyone who'd take that offer is either a risk taker or deeply, deeply stupid.

Well, you won't find visiting if you set up shop there. I have had enough of being stupid.

I can do that. Like the circus, I will never stay in one place long enough to get settled. It's all I can do since I'm trapped in this one fucking dark town for an eternity.
