( it's been a few days since the aurora event, but, Matt needed a bit of recuperating time. he spent a lot of time with a treeby in the cold, ok... anyway, he found something, or rather, was given something... and he figures he might not be the only one.

so here he is.
)

During the aurora, someone gave me something. I don't know who it was, but it was a memory. And I think it was from Beacon before things went dark. Strangely, it's just audio, I've shared it with someone else and they can't see anything, either, but... you can hear a conversation just fine.

( Matt's bestie Cao Pi has warned him against being too direct on the network, so, he won't be, but... )

Did anyone else find something similar? We might be able to put the pieces together if we share what we know.

( to that end... )

If you'd like to experience the memory I found, let me know. Maybe we can meet at town hall and have a show and tell.

( wow, he's got jokes... good for you, Matty, glad to know your sense of humor isn't totally dead!!! )

ooc: if you want your character to have seen this memory, feel free to assume Matt let them take a peek whether we put it to action or not!

The spirit behind the bar at the Invincible threw one at my head. I figured he just wasn't a fan of my jokes, but—. [ a beat and a huff of breath that's almost a laugh. ] I think it was the same kind of thing as yours. There isn't anything in it that identifies it as Beacon, but there wasn't anyone in the memory that's here now.

[ that they know of, anyway. ]

It's interesting that yours was just audio.

Someone hiding would probably have tells, but there's no way of knowing for sure which it is, not without identifying who it came from. [ beat. ] But what I mean is— [ geez. ] It's convenient, right? That you get a stone with a memory, and there's no visual associated with it.

[ like, what are the odds, matty boy? ]

Mine was — a couple. Husband and wife, I guess. They mentioned kids, they were working on fixing up a spaceship. It didn't seem important, not in the scheme of things here, but — "Albatross Fleet". The most logical guess would be that it's a memory from someone who was in another group.

You say that, but how many surprises have popped up over the last couple of months? As much as I'd like to think you're right, I still don't think we know much of anything about this place — except, yeah, to be fair, you'd think spaceships would've come up given we've got a terrifying intergalactic, interdimensional threat to worry about.

[ but also: beacon seems to be very fond of being as difficult and as infuriating as it possibly can be. ]

—Anyway, this memory. If you want another pair of— uh, ears, I can swing by and take a listen.

Isn't there a saying about that? Hope for the best, plan for the worst. I almost feel like that could be Beacon's tagline.

[ ...or she could just want plutonium because it'd weirdly reflective of her name, haha, plutonium, get it!! ]

I could meet you somewhere? I don't know— [ "how off the grid you want to make this". (nevermind.) ] Dealer's choice, but I'm just saying there are worst things to do than to check up on the hermit crab with questionable frozen goods.
