[text] @doctorsin [open]
This is Wade. Doc Hicks and I wanted to put the word out that anyone who needs medical attention now or in the future can find one of us - I'm in Room 310 and Gene's camped out by the bonfire. We're in the process of establishing a clinic in the chapel vestry for the sick and injured. If you have any information on new medical developments from your time or have any medications from the future, please share them.
And lastly: if you go out into the woods, bring one of us along. That's what we're here for.

That means I'd have to actually be proper.
no subject
( can't have that, now can we? he's shakin' his head with a smile when he leans against one of the pews. )
Now, if I may be so bold... how in th'hell did you get here so fast?
no subject
[Okay, that's clearly a lie by the way she's smiling.]
Actually, I teleported.
no subject
but it's a fond memory, an' near anything that makes him think of his folks makes his expression soften. )
Didn't know your magic was so versatile.

( kyna pls. )
I just... you know, there ain't any magic in my world, so I ain't got the first clue about how it's meant to operate or what the limitations are, is all.

I remember your... post? That the right word? Talkin' about it. Seems a lotta folks are havin' that difficulty.
( if anyone would understand about his seein' ghosts, he thinks it'd probably be someone to whom magic is natural as breathin'. but. he's so long conditioned to keep it private that beyond a faint question of maybe? he doesn't actually give voice to the thought. feels like he's missin' a limb, to say nothin' of what these days done without reggie has done to him. he knew he relied on him somethin' awful, but how many times now has he turned to ask him a question an' found him gone? )
no subject
[It isn't quite like missing a limb, not the way it was when she couldn't use her magic completely, but the unpredictability of it makes her feel off balance.]
Is there magic where you're from?
no subject
( he doesn't want to lie, exactly, an' yet... )
Lotta things between earth an' Heaven I don't have the words to explain. Ain't sure I'd venture to call it 'magic'.
no subject
What does that mean?
no subject
I've only seen so much of the world. I ain't about to presume I know all there is to know of it, yeah?
no subject
Oh, I get it. At least you're not telling me it's totally fake or something.
no subject
( even if he held that opinion, it ain't like he'd say it aloud. all manner of folk move through the world under different winds, it ain't on him to decide what their reality looks like. gene is silent a moment, an' then he tips his head to one side. he ain't a man much governed by any manner of uncertainty, but it's with prevailing shyness that he asks, )
But... would you mind demonstratin' something?
no subject
Yeah, sure. What is it?
no subject
( his pa would love it. )
no subject
[She gestures vaguely at the room around them.]
No light thing.
[She rocks back on her heels, considering, then smiles as she seems to decide. With a wave of her hand, bright multicolored wildflowers bloom out of the pockets of his pants. If he tries to touch them, though, his hands will pass right through them.]
no subject
he imagines it ain't any different for her. light holds back the darkness, an' given the place they're all gathered in that's bound to trouble her. his brow is furrowed a mite in sympathy, but the moment she does her spell it fades off.
his earliest memory's of a barnstormer up in montgomery. watchin' planes tip on their sides an' near kiss the dirt of the flatland fields, an' then soar up on in the sky instilled in him a deep an' abidin' love of the open air. half the reason he became a paratrooper, right there. but it's that same look then as now on his face. somethin' effusive. pure joy.
he doesn't move to wave his hands through them or anythin' so overt, but he does reach down to touch the curve of a petal, an' he's still smilin' when there's no substance to it. )
How about that.
( she may as well have caught a falling star in the cup of her hands, for his amazement. )
no subject
Pretty neat, huh?
no subject
( but he doesn't finish the thought. just laughs a bit, shakes his head. )
An' anyone can do this, where you're from? Or is it a matter of aptitude an' such?
