This is Wade. Doc Hicks and I wanted to put the word out that anyone who needs medical attention now or in the future can find one of us - I'm in Room 310 and Gene's camped out by the bonfire. We're in the process of establishing a clinic in the chapel vestry for the sick and injured. If you have any information on new medical developments from your time or have any medications from the future, please share them.

And lastly: if you go out into the woods, bring one of us along. That's what we're here for.

( the accent gets worse when he's bein' playful. sorry, kyna, you'll need a babelfish before too long if this keeps up. )

You're the best. Too bad there's no lockers to shove him into.

( it still disturbs him some, how worldly five is. how he knows things he ought not to at his age. gene shakes his head. )

Might not be a bad idea to have a stockpile elsewheres, then. Apart from the Clinic an' the Inn. You find any place like that in all your travels?

[ wade takes a small breath of smoke and sighs it out in a reflection of gene's own expression of similar weariness before speaking. ] I think it might be too late by this point. [ and, as if on cue, something between a gasp and a moan from the sacristy. ] Sounds like it at least.

[ at least they're both medical professionals. ] Might want to take that text to speech app elsewhere or type instead.

( he packs up his tablet dutifully. )

Think we should give 'em some privacy if it's all the same to you. I wanted to go take a look around the Church anyhow, see if there's an outside access to the cellar we missed.

It's compressed polyethyltriphosphate. The commercial name is actually Optican, if that helps.

I feel like it goes without saying that I don't want anyone to get hurt in the first place, but also I do want to get better at it so... sure. Honestly, whatever you need help with is fine, I need more to do around here.

Town Hall, maybe. There's a boathouse by the harbor, some covered space there too, but that might be too far away in case of an emergency. More exposed, too.

I'll dwell on it some. I definitely wouldn't want it too far away should anything happen.

( and it'll need to be in the direction they might have to retreat. which begs the question — is it the water they ought to fear, or the forest? )

( lord, what a word. gene is grateful that the text-to-speech app seems to know how to pronounce it, because if he'd had to try and decipher that many letters on paper he'd go damn cross-eyed.

he says it to himself a couple times just so's it rolls off the tongue smooth. )

First lesson can happen any time you think you're feelin' up for it. I ain't about to wait for everybody to be ready, it'd shake out 'bout as well as herdin' cats in a hurricane.

As to manners, well. How's your curtsy? Hear that's real important for the ladies.

[She lets out a snort of a laugh.]

I've never curtsied in my life.

Well there you have it. You oughta practice that one. I'll even show you how, I hear tell my curtsy's impeccable.

If I actually see you curtsy, I'll totally practice.

Well, you just saunter on down to the clinic then, an' I'll show you. It's all in the ankle, really.

( funny thing about bein' in an active warzone s'long as he has, you tend to fill your dance card with other fellas, an' take turns playin' the lady's part. you bet your ass he curtsies. )

[So Kyna teleports over, appearing outside the doors of the church. She still doesn't quite trust herself not to misjudge unfamiliar distances and hit a wall. She pushes the door open and peeks inside, grinning when she sees Gene.]
