This is Wade. Doc Hicks and I wanted to put the word out that anyone who needs medical attention now or in the future can find one of us - I'm in Room 310 and Gene's camped out by the bonfire. We're in the process of establishing a clinic in the chapel vestry for the sick and injured. If you have any information on new medical developments from your time or have any medications from the future, please share them.

And lastly: if you go out into the woods, bring one of us along. That's what we're here for.

[ he pauses to think, consider what'd be useful to mention. ]

Some people are allergic to penicillin. [ first thing's first. ] It's still good to have on hand, but you'll want alternatives. [ he'll name a couple of common ones he's aware of. ] For minor skin injuries, topical antibiotics are good to have on hand. Something like -- no, you haven't heard of Neosporin. [ by way of explanation, ] 1970s. It's an ointment with three antibiotics: neomycin, polymyxin B, bacitracin.

Seems so, yeah. [ wade doesn't elaborate much - the encounter rubbed his fur the wrong way, but if gene likes his company well enough, it's not his place to question it unless it takes a turn for the worse. he lapses into silence for a few moments, albeit not a particularly awkward one; gene seems to have the situation under control, and besides, he's a grown man and can clearly turn down an unwanted suitor if he so chooses. ] We should make sure he and the others from earlier times know about prophylactics, proper precautions.

( Don't mind him, he's just griping. He's still got some rope burns on his wrists and neck that are bothering him, but it's nothing he can't suffer through. )

( gene will... say something to placate the child, an' wade can go back to sortin' all the medicine they've got between 'em, an' that'll be that. )

[ raylan scrubs his eye with the heel of his hand, grimacing. something about this is just making him feel kind of pathetic. maybe he should quit chugging bourbon back like it's air and he's a drowning man. maybe he should do this and maybe he will, or maybe he won't. depends on how the rest of this "day" pans out. ] I can probably hold off, if you're short. Mostly just wanted to complain about it a little.

[ god, but his head is killing him, though. he hasn't been kicked this bad by a hangover for a long time. ] Hair of the dog, though, how real is that? You hear mixed messages.

Oh, I know. Sulfa too.

( always a rough thing, when one of the boys has an allergic reaction to that. most of 'em were tested prior, but. not everyone. army standards all. )

Ain't heard of the others, but anythin' that works for topical treatment would be good to have on hand. I'll be honest, I'm a little leery about relyin' on supply drops, though.

( he ain't got a reason to distrust rastus yet, but. he's also gone for weeks on end without anythin' from the front, an' he knows it's better to make do with what you've got than pine over what you don't. )

( alexios is a Lot but gene's got a soft spot for that sorta fellow. not enough to do anythin' untoward with him, but enough that he hasn't quite told him off for it yet. he simply shrugs. )

Guess we can always make another PSA. If I never treat another case of the clap in my life it'll still be too damn soon.

( just before he shipped out. he an' the boys went out in new york an' gene, who'd grown up in a dry county an' ain't never tried anythin' harder than iced tea, had been introduced to whiskey. he's pretty sure he slept it off in a garbage heap, an' gemara had to drag him on out. )
