But we are a group not numbering even a hundred, many of us not soldiers, conscripted, as you put it, against our agency, to fight a planet-devouring monster with no information, few weapons, and actual children.
Instead of using the very short amount of time we have to train for such an insurmountable task, we are required to fight for our own survival, which we are not guaranteed. Of the forty or so of us, how many had we lost just traversing the woods? What would happen if the next infestation of rats carries with it a plague?
