[audio] @riku; testing recovery limits [open]
Hey, this is Riku.
Between the ferry sinking, the loss of some supplies and a bunch of newcomers to get up to speed, I know we've all got a lot going on.
It could have been a lot worse. It wasn't because a lot of you stepped up to help. That's exactly what's going to see us through.
...So, thanks.
[ He pauses to rub his hands together, the resultant rasp could be anything. ]
Not to rain on our parade, but the crash got me thinking. Specifically, about dealing with injuries.
If anybody can teach basic first aid, I think everyone would benefit from learning.
[ There's a soft crackle, wind skimming across the tablet's microphone, a bit of a shiver in his voice: ]
For the ones using magic or other abilities to heal others, knowing what limits being here has imposed on those abilities is hard enough without finding out in the middle of an emergency.
I have an idea how we could test these limits in a pretty controlled environment. Contact me if you're interested.
[ He already feels like he's been talking too much, but there's a little more to say: ]
If no one's heard about it yet, we located an armory to the east over the river. There, you'll find weapons, knives and swords, stuff like that. In the basement is an area for training and target practice.
Aziraphale did most of the work, but there's a bridge over the river now. I left a torch at the armory. Should make it easier to find.
If anyone can figure out how they made that building practically invisible, might be worth putting it around a more central location in case of an attack.
That's all I got.
(Appended to the message is a list of respondents and skills they're willing to teach.)
Rosalind Lutece: first aid (lesson in exchange for 1 hr lab assist)
Soldier: basic field medicine
Jason Grace: first aid, improvised first aid kits
Clarke Griffin: advanced medicine, long term care
Matt: first aid
Daylight: Galateion first aid
Javert: wound dressing, stitching
Other stuff to think about
- everybody should carry first aid kits
- save rags & cloth scraps for bandages & splints
- central medical area?
- (Bruce) ask Will about an alarm for medical help

I can do basic field medicine. Find injuries, bind and immobilize, stitching. Recognize concussion and infection. Nothing about long term care.
No price.
[Because it heard Rosalind's message, and wants to be clear.]

Do you know anything about this armory aside from the fact that it was invisible? Mostly concerned that whoever it belongs to might come back to check in on it.

( in fact he knows a great deal, some of it from Claire, and most of it from patching himself up. is it weird for a blind guy to offer this? hmm, maybe. after the ridiculous destruction of the ferry, though, Matt will risk it. )

[He once patched up his ex-girlfriend's injured foot with a piece of wood, gauze, and duct tape. If supplies are limited or if they catch themselves in the woods with little to go on, it might be valuable knowledge.]
Now that you mention it, it might not be a bad idea to get some stashes set up for emergencies or maybe even some to-go packs that people could take on explorations. Depending on where injuries occur, it could mean the difference between getting someone a few feet to be treated versus dragging them for several miles.

little did they know that "settle down" would not happen for several weeks. whoops.

And, because I wasn't there when it happened....how bad exactly was it? The fallout from the ferry crashing, that is.

But volunteering this much information would garner attention. And that's the last thing he wants. Besides, wasn't there just a big to-do on the network a few days ago about people with supernatural abilities?]
This is only tangentially related, but it might be worth asking Dr. Ingram about the possibility of installing an alarm. A kind of SOS to notify anyone willing to serve on emergency duty.
Though I suppose a dedicated medical station would be most helpful.

( He's been wounded a lot during the course of his work, and since a visit to the doctor always seemed an unnecessary expense to him, it was basically a necessity that he learn. )
If you are open to suggestions, I also think it would be prudent for everyone to begin saving any scraps of cloth or torn clothing that they may have. It can easily be torn up and re-used to make lint or bandages.
